"You have a missing message from Kao Dao Ji." Le Tu's Will was transmitted.
Le Tu raised his eyebrows, mildly puzzled.
Just what exactly was Kao Dao Ji asking him, especially now of all times?
"Oh."
"Oh…"
Le Tu's expression flickered.
In the letter Kao Dao Ji, without any shame or politeness, directly asked for the Killer Move he had used a few moments ago.
But how could Le Tu feel comfortable upon hearing this? An Immortal's Killer Moves were basically the foundation of their strength.
Exposing them was like handing the key of his home.
Yet despite everything, Le Tu did not wish to refuse.
While he did not know why Kao Dao Ji was being so generous with him, it was true that he had been aided several times by him already.
In the end, he merely sighed.
"I guess I can share how I was able to infuse Extreme Yin/Yang to Earth Path and on Fire Path, too, I suppose. But. To give him the other details? Forget it." He shook his head; he may not be an ungrateful person, but he was also no fool.
He shook his head.
And braced himself for his next encounter.
Jin Qu Yu stared at him.
Unlike the venomous hatred she felt towards Qin Jiji, her expression was more friendly.
She smiled.
"Before we begin, let me say thank you." She cupped her hands together and bowed before him.
"You tried to save Jin Quan Hou before, but even though you failed. At least you prevented the killer from claiming the inheritance."
Her expression hardened.
"But it is precisely why you defeated her that I need to know how strong you are." Her words were spoken loudly.
The meaning of her words obvious.
Qin Jiji had killed Jin Quan Hou even though she did not have to.
Whilst some immortals die from those competitions from time to time, usually it happens in the middle of frenetic matches where neither side can hold back.
But her? She had him beaten by all rights, had she wanted to, instead of blowing his body to bits, could have instead blown up his arm and legs to bits, and forced him to surrender.
More importantly, Qin Jiji had also managed to get her hands on Experience Gu, a Gu from the Legends of Ren Zu.
Jin Qu Yu was merely the player the Jin Clan was using to target the Qin Clan.
Of course, she knew this; even so, her fury did not calm in the slightest.
She closed her eyes.
The grip in her sword was tightening.
"Are you ready?" She warned, opening her eyes slowly.
From her arms, a silver sword materialized.
Le Tu nodded; his expression was completely different from the last fight.
Unlike before, he was not so sure if his body could withstand her moves.
"Good."
There was a glimmer in her eyes, and the sword suddenly shone.
A swooping sound was heard as she raised her sword, cutting through the air, unleashing a devastating blow.
Le Tu pressed his leg, and ahead of him, a massive earth wall took shape.
But the wall, which looked imposing, was cut like tofu before her slash.
Le Tu desperately jumped upwards to avoid her slash.
But at the next moment, she stretched her middle and index fingers.
A thousand of swords were summoned and rapidly shot in the direction she aimed at.
Their speed was overwhelming. Le Tu knew that he had no time to avoid.
And instead opened his mouth from which an imposing mud dragon rapidly took shape.
And the two forces collided.
Jin Qu Yu was about to put on some force in her move, but her expression flickered.
She jumped upwards; beneath her feet, a figure could be seen coming out of the ground.
Le Tu.
Who merely sighed.
"What gave me away?"
In the moment he summoned the earth wall, he rapidly took the chance to summon a clone of himself, whilst he himself dug underground trying to approach her silently.
Then he used that flashy exchange of attacks to distract her, planning to finish everything in one go.
Jin Qu Yu's forehead was covered in deep sweat; in reality, she had not figured anything out.
But at the last moment before he arrived, her hardened instincts told her to jump, and so she did.
"This is going to be much harder than I ever imagined." She gulped.
…
Hui Gui Yu stood before an audience.
Her body looked completely different from before, from her head to toe, she looked completely like a merman.
With purple-golden scales covering her exquisite figure.
She sang harmoniously.
Or rather was emitting a sound akin to a woodwind instrument.
Her voice sounded like a sharp flute.
In her singing, one could hear intense emotions, with a vivid song that, from time to time, was interrupted by a chilling, shrilling noise akin to those of a demon.
Yet that only added to the charm.
As she kept singing, her eyes turned redder and redder.
Many among the audience who saw her visceral reaction could not help but wonder.
What kind of tragedy could such a beauty have lived to create such a song?
Amidst the instrumental sounds, her throat began to tremble.
In a magical way, whilst still retaining the instrumental-like sound, she spoke.
"Sometimes I catch myself mid-sentence.
Searching for a word I can't quite place.
Both felt right, both felt strange.
When I look in the mirror, I even wonder.
Is that even my real face?
There is a rattling sound I have grown to despise.
A sound that never leaves me, reminding me I am awake." The sound of her voice was strange, fluctuating between feminine and slightly coarse and rough.
Several of the Immortals, however, looked entranced by her words; even those who did not feel empathy could not help but have their heads turned in her direction.
Many who were already listening felt compelled to move towards her.
"Broken in two, and now forced to live as one-"
Suddenly.
Ahead of the figure.
Uru Tan He stood with a stern expression.
"Miss Hui Gui Yu. I know you are trying to express yourself through your song. However.
That 'song' of yours. It does seem that it is having a stronger-than-usual effect on our guests." Despite his expression, his voice still sounded polite, but it carried a thinly veiled threat.
Uru Tan He was not sure if her actions were an attempt at sabotage or a mere slip; regardless, she could not be allowed to be.
The other guests rapidly regained clarity in their gazes.
Their expressions towards Hui Gui Yu changed drastically; there was deep wariness.
Without ever realizing they had fallen into her spell.
Hui Gui Yu sighed deeply.
Several Transformation Gu Worms were activated one after the other, and her body became that of a human again.
Then. She stared at Uru Tan He and bowed down apologetically.
"Forgive me, I got carried away."
Uru Tan He stood there with his arms crossed.
"I hope so. If this repeats again, I will have no other choice but to expel you."
"I understand." She nodded rapidly before taking her leave.
Unlike previous times, nobody followed after her.
Amidst everyone at the scene, only Le Tu's gaze remained fixated on her figure.
Suddenly.
He was grazed by a sword.
But it stopped halfway through as he hardened his skin at the last instant.
Even so, his cheeks still bleed quite a bit.
Jin Qu Yu stared at him with annoyance.
"You have a lot of nerve to get so distracted in the middle of a fight. Do you look down on me to this extent?"
"Sorry. Sorry." Le Tu rubbed his nose.
At the next moment.
His body flickered, and he moved at thunderous speed.
Jin Qu Yu raised her eyebrows surprised, she was forced to raise her sword, aiming at his throat, to stop his motion.
But Le Tu rapidly flickered.
"You. You were not this fast before." Jin Qu Yu muttered.
Le Tu appeared behind her and shrugged.
"Well. Would you believe me that the woman who was singing just a minute ago gave me some inspiration?"
Jin Qu Yu was tongue-tied.
"What?"
Le Tu smirked.
Of course, he had no reason to explain.
…
Kao Dao Ji closed his eyes.
Using the notes, he read of Le Tu as well as his own insights, and he pondered.
"Everything can be said to have an opposite; even on earth, there were electrons and positrons, or negative and positive charged magnets.
But.
While there is Yin and Yang, not every Path carries its essence.
Or rather, they are but a side of the coin of a larger duality.
There is Light Pat,h for example. Which will always belong to Yang, and there is Darkness Path, which will always belong to Yin.
Other Paths carry the ability to contain the profundity of both sides of the coin.
However, those profundities are hard to reveal.
As Paths which lean towards neither side often seek balance at all costs.
Much like molecules in my world. They 'seek' to reach an equilibrium point, equilibrium being, pointing towards neither Yin nor Yang.
Only in rare cases when one bends reality to do so, do they show their behaviors in exceptional patterns, that is the essence of Extreme Yang or Extreme Yin."
Kao Dao Ji squinted his eyes, finding the explanation flawed.
"What about Human Path? Humans naturally lean towards either Yin or Yang; cases in which they do not are rare. And often end in premature death."
He shrugged.
"I guess Le Tu's understanding is flawed, but that is to be expected. After all, he does not even know that Human Path exists." To that, he felt some frustration.
Come on, Le Tu, aren't you supposed to be a Venerable-Seed?
He felt like a kid in primary school trying to copy from his smart friend's homework, and then ended up failing the grade.
Thankfully, he had his own brain, or else he could have blown himself to smithereens.
As he praised himself, suddenly his will contacted him.
"What did you say?"
"Hui Gui Yu."
"Does not tilt towards either side?"
Kao Dao Ji's expression changed.
"That…That does not make any sense."
"Other Paths stabilize themselves by seeking things of the same Path or related ones, of the opposite side. Yin seeks Yang. Yang seeks Yin.
But how on earth do you do that as a human? What do you eat a piece of your sibling while you were in the womb? Or do you have to become a cannibal?"
He shook his head; even in such cases, the balance was not altered for long. After all, the fetus did not eat the other in the latter phases of birth, but only in the initial ones.
Thus, even if slightly, the balance was not altered drastically.
But then he recalled a Killer Move from the novel.
"Three Hearts Combination Soul." A Killer Move that could temporarily combine the souls of three people, enabling them to synchronize perfectly.
Even then, the transformation was temporary.
But what if?
What if there was an even more thorough Killer Move?
"Yin seeks Yang. Yang seeks Yin. What if somebody used this principle to fuse the body of a man and a woman together?"
Kao Dao Ji's interest reached its peak.
He ordered his Will to find for any Killer Move in TYH which could achieve such a thing.
Several hours later (from his perspective)
He found the answer.
'Marriage.'
Details of the Killer Move:
Marriage. Was a Killer Move created in Northern Plains at the peak of Spectral Soul's Era.
There was once a couple that wanted to be together forever, furthermore they were also fearful of dying of old age.
And knew that by fusing together their lifespans would be added together, and not only that, but it would also increase exponentially.
Even their Cultivations would increase, as their apertures would fuse and become one.
But they failed.
At the last step, their organs and bones failed to mend together properly.
In the end, they became a mangled being, unable to control their life and death.
Struggling in agony for ten days and nights before perishing.
Later on, a demonic overlord picked up the recordings of those two.
And discovered the issue, blood incompatibility.
Such a Killer Move could only work on those whose DNA was similar enough.
Family.
The demonic overlord completed his research and improved on the Killer Move, however he ended up disappointed, as while he succeeded in creating such bodies.
They were often too unstable.
Moreover, their mended apertures had some flaws that prevented them from reaching immortality.
In the end, the demonic overlord ended up discarding his research.
And the Killer Move was lost to history.
Kao Dao Ji's mouth was wide open as he finished reading the notes.
