Chapter 376 - 376: Returning to Gotham

A few minutes later, after several adjustments, Axel obtained the footage he wanted.

With a casual wave of his hand, everyone in the room vanished along with the discarded clothes on the floor.

The living room fell silent.

Do Gye Hong stood frozen, his mouth slightly open, unable to process what had just happened.

Axel slipped his phone back into his pocket and patted his shoulder.

"I don't know how sharp you are, but you've survived this long, so you understand what to do with what you're holding, right?"

He smiled faintly.

"Treat it like it doesn't exist. As long as they can't kill me, they won't bother your families again. Don't share it, and definitely don't upload it pretending to be some kind of hero."

He chuckled.

"If you're curious, keep it for yourself. Maybe watch it with your wife if you need excitement. Though honestly, there's nothing exciting about it, just a bit disgusting. Wealth doesn't age well."

As he finished speaking, the bedroom door upstairs opened.

Ci Yun stepped out, still covered in blood.

Axel glanced at her and nodded.

"That was fast. All done?"

"Just a few words," she replied. "We can leave. If you hadn't been wasting time, I would have come out earlier."

She walked downstairs and stopped beside him.

Upstairs, her adoptive father and Do Mingxi stood by the railing, watching silently. Her adoptive mother remained asleep.

Axel placed an arm over Ci Yun's shoulder, and together they walked to the door.

As it opened, flames flickered briefly, and both disappeared.

In the next instant, Ci Yun's vision darkened.

When it cleared, she stood in a gloomy city beneath heavy clouds.

At the entrance of Wayne United Bank in Gotham's Diamond District, pedestrians immediately noticed her blood-soaked appearance.

Several people stared.

Ci Yun instinctively prepared to act. In her mind, trouble always followed them. Two patrol officers were already driving toward them.

But before she could move, Axel caught her wrist.

She paused, watching the crowd.

A woman nearby gasped, only for her companion to quickly cover her mouth.

Then the man waved excitedly.

"My luck is insane, I actually ran into you, Mr. Wraith!"

He pulled out a pen eagerly.

"Boss Wraith, sign my lapel!"

Axel blinked.

Ci Yun's expression shifted slightly.

Before she could process it, the surrounding crowd surged forward.

"It's Wraith!"

"Haven't seen him in days!"

"Quick, get an autograph!"

"With his signature, I can pay less to the gangs next quarter!"

"Look here!"

"And that girl, don't smile, that's terrifying!"

"The police are coming, block them!"

"Move, we want autographs too!"

The patrol car stopped. One officer jumped out with a pen, forcing his way through the crowd.

Axel laughed and patted Ci Yun's shoulder.

"See that? This is my city. Look how much they love me."

Ci Yun sneered.

"Maybe they just haven't seen you kill."

Axel shrugged.

"Maybe."

He signed a few autographs, then lost interest.

"You're the last one," he told the next person. "That's it. I'm out for a walk, now move."

"Haha, that's Boss Wraith!"

"Thank you for killing my father, now everything's mine!"

"Why haven't you been around lately?"

"Without you, Gotham feels unstable!"

"Quiet down, don't act like tourists!"

"We're Gotham citizens, protected by Wraith!"

The crowd parted.

Axel pulled Ci Yun through.

As they walked, she noticed something disturbing.

People were not afraid of her.

Some even looked at her with curiosity, even friendliness, despite the blood covering her body.

She struggled to understand it.

Then it hit her.

Gotham.

Her eyes widened as she grabbed Axel's wrist.

"Axel, where exactly are we?"

"Gotham," he replied casually. "Didn't you hear? What, you prefer New York? That place is boring right now. Haven't bothered visiting."

He led her out of the crowd.

Two officers approached and saluted.

"Boss Wraith, we're Commissioner Gordon's men."

"Can we take a picture with you?"

They handed over their phones.

Axel passed them to Ci Yun.

"Take the photo."

He draped his arms over their shoulders and smiled.

Behind them, civilians crowded in to sneak into the frame.

Ci Yun hesitated, then took the picture.

As she handed the phone back, her thoughts raced.

Where were Batman and Superman?

Why was Axel walking freely, admired instead of hunted?

Then came the sound of engines.

Three pink motorcycles roared toward them.

The crowd parted instantly.

One officer swallowed.

"Boss… the ladies are speeding."

"The bikes look great though."

The motorcycles approached.

The last rider suddenly accelerated, racing straight toward the crowd without slowing.

Ci Yun tensed.

At the last moment, the rider launched the bike aside and leapt forward.

She soared over the crowd and slammed into a utility pole with a heavy impact.

People scattered.

She hit the ground hard, her arm breaking with a sharp crack.

Ignoring it, she staggered toward Axel.

Axel stared.

"What the hell, who are you?"

"My dad's a senator, my mom's a vice minister, don't you remember?" she shouted. "I'm Haino, Axel! I finally found you!"

She leapt at him, clinging tightly despite her injuries.

Axel grabbed her by the neck and knocked her unconscious.

From the other bikes, Selina Kyle approached with a faint smile, Harley Quinn beside her.

Selina glanced at Ci Yun, then extended her hand.

"Hello. You came back with my husband? Where are you from?"

She shook Ci Yun's hand, then casually pinched her cheek with a grin.

Axel, holding Haino, looked at Selina.

"What's going on? And where did Harley come from?"

Selina gestured toward the manor.

"We'll talk inside. Too many people here."

Axel nodded.

Flames flickered again.

They reappeared in the manor's courtyard.

Ci Yun froze.

The grounds stretched wide, animals grazing freely. Among them, a panda casually leaned against a steel combat suit marked with a large bat symbol.

Her mind struggled to process it.

Above them, a green armored figure broke the sound barrier before landing heavily.

The armor dissolved into nanotech, forming a vest on Lex Luthor's chest.

He exhaled and waved.

"You're back quickly, Axel."

Axel glanced at the armor.

"Nanotech breakthrough?"

Lex nodded.

"Progress, yes. Still bulky, but promising. Give it a day or two, it should reach full combat capability."

He continued.

"Bruce and Clark went to the Kent farm. There's a Kryptonian ship there. We'll have it soon."

Axel paused, then laughed.

"Clark took Bruce to retrieve a spaceship? That's bold."

Lex coughed lightly.

"It's strategic planning, not deception."

He turned away.

"You handle your matters. I'll continue testing."

He stepped into the bat-themed armor, sealing it around himself as the systems activated.
