Chapter 367 - 367: Alfred and Martha Return

A long while later, dusk settled over the city.

Inside the master bedroom of Downton Manor, Diana fiercely tried to push Axel away with her legs, glaring at him like an enraged leopardess.

"Get lost!"

"Heh, got your strength back already? Enchantress, help me hold her down."

Axel patted Enchantress's thigh.

Enchantress immediately shifted closer to Diana, firmly pinning her arms while pressing her chest against Diana's face to silence her protests.

"Amazon women really have short memories. This is the sixth time today, and you struggle every single time. Even intimacy turns into a battle. Why bother?"

Still restraining Diana, Enchantress leaned down and whispered into her ear.

Diana's brows twitched. Her expression hardened as she gritted her teeth.

"Hiss!"

Enchantress suddenly recoiled in pain as Diana's muscles tightened without warning.

"You're a fucking lunatic!"

She cursed and retaliated by knocking her forehead against Diana's.

Diana hissed in pain and growled back.

"I'll kill you!"

"Oh really? That's pretty heartless. We even shared a popsicle in bed together. I thought we were already best friends."

"Shut up. You'll die by my hands sooner or later."

"Sooner or later, my ass. Can we not ruin the mood during a passionate moment?"

Axel thrust forward, cutting off Diana's words.

He patted Diana's backside before turning toward Selina, who lay motionless in the corner of the large bed with her eyes rolled back.

"And you, my lady. At least Enchantress can help hold Diana down. But you? You talk big, then lose consciousness in seconds. Tsk."

"You shut up!"

Selina couldn't respond, but Diana did it for her.

Moonlight gradually spilled through the windows, and the room descended into another night of chaos and delirious whispers.

Around 10:40 the next morning, Axel slowly opened his eyes.

He really didn't want to get up.

Leaning against the headboard, he chuckled as he looked around.

What put him in an especially good mood was that Diana was still there, sleeping soundly like a child.

Her lips were slightly parted, making her look unusually peaceful.

Axel reached over and gently rubbed her shoulder.

Beside him, Selina sensed the movement and blinked awake.

After noticing the state of the bed, she awkwardly shifted her position.

The sheets were completely soaked.

She eventually climbed onto Axel's lap.

"After I passed out last night, how many more times did you keep going?"

Axel laughed.

"I'm not exactly sure. Probably six or seven more rounds before I fell asleep around four."

He glanced at Diana.

"But after you passed out, I focused entirely on her."

"As for Diana, maybe twenty or thirty times."

"Possibly more."

Axel then reached over and pressed the service bell beside the bed.

A moment later, the doors opened and six maids entered, cleaning the room as though everything were perfectly normal.

As they wiped him down with warm towels, Axel shook his head.

"This is probably the first time I've actually felt exhausted. Diana and Enchantress have incredible physiques."

"It genuinely felt like fighting two worthy opponents."

"Damn, I was too lazy to even get out of bed."

His body suddenly transformed into flames before instantly reforming on the floor, completely refreshed.

As his clothes automatically dressed him, he playfully patted a few maids on the shoulder.

"You ladies have your work cut out for you taking care of these three old hags."

The maids paused briefly before smiling.

"Serving you is our duty, Master. You pay us very well."

"It's our honor. After my father found out I worked for you, he was elected to the Gotham City Council."

"There are countless people across America who want our jobs."

"Master, some may think we've lost our dignity, but we've gained far more because of you."

"People look at us as though we're angels standing beside God."

"Sometimes I even think about buying a pair of wings like those Victoria's Secret models."

The maids chatted cheerfully while cleaning Diana, Selina, and Enchantress.

Soon, the three women were placed in a large bath while the maids replaced the destroyed bedding, broken bedframe, and shattered floorboards.

Watching them work efficiently, Axel simply lit a cigarette and left the room.

He headed toward the kitchen, only to realize Alfred wasn't there.

That was unusual.

"Where's Alfred?" Axel asked the chef.

He sat down at the dining table.

The chef answered immediately.

"Master, Mr. Alfred and Mrs. Martha went to the Gotham Theater to watch a play last night."

He coughed awkwardly.

"Although... I don't know what kind of play would last an entire night."

"Holy shit!"

Crash!

Axel accidentally destroyed his stool from sitting down too hard.

Standing up, he spoke to a nearby maid.

"Please clean that up."

"I never expected Alfred to have such a late blooming romance."

"And what a romance it is."

"Do Clark and Bruce know about this? If they do, hahaha, I wonder where those two are right now."

"Master."

The maid smiled.

"Young Master Bruce and Young Master Clark left for Metropolis early this morning."

"The families of those who died at Arkham Asylum yesterday gathered to protest outside Metropolis City Hall, and they went there to handle it."

Axel stared blankly.

"Wait."

"Did I hear that correctly?"

"The families of people who died in Gotham went all the way to Metropolis to protest?"

"Why Metropolis? Doesn't Gotham have its own City Hall?"

The maid hesitated.

"Master, Gotham City Hall was practically dismantled after your actions."

"Afterward, the Dead Souls Gang took control of it."

"Forty percent of the council members belong to the Dead Souls Gang, while the remaining sixty percent are surviving executives from Wayne Enterprises and LexCorp."

"Also, Mr. Oswald has been campaigning to become mayor."

"I assumed you had already approved it."

"Wow."

Axel gave her a thumbs up.

"I didn't approve it, but something that minor doesn't need my attention."

"Oswald's pretty motivated."

"Being mayor suits him perfectly."

He resumed eating.

The chef's skills remained impeccable.

Axel had never replaced the manor's French and German head chefs.

As he enjoyed a sausage, the dining room doors opened.

Ciri walked inside with massive dark circles under her eyes.

"Morning."

She sat down beside him unhappily.

Axel glanced at her.

"I know you normally wear makeup around your eyes, but those dark circles are extreme."

"Wait, why are you still here? Didn't you go home last night?"

Ciri blinked.

"What?"

"Are you kicking me out?"

"No, no."

Axel waved his hand.

"I just made a mistake."

"I rarely spend nights in other worlds, so I subconsciously thought you were the same."

"I'm not kicking you out."

"Why would I? I haven't even slept with you yet."

He mischievously held up a sausage toward her.

Ciri immediately looked down at his crotch before biting into it with extra force.

Crunch.

"You want to know why my dark circles are so bad?"

"I was sleeping in the room next to yours."

"You four were like an earthquake all night."

"I didn't get any sleep."

"Mm."

Axel suddenly grabbed her hands and dramatically sniffed them.

Then he grinned.

"You've definitely had a rough night."

"If I'd known you stayed over, I would've invited you."

"Then invite me tonight."

Ciri slammed her hands onto the table.

"Seriously."

"The Lady of the Lake and Triss have already been with you."

"I'm still waiting."

"Do you think I'm worse than them?"

Axel laughed and wrapped an arm around her shoulders.

"No."

"I'll pick you tonight. Happy?"

"What do you mean, happy? Am I forcing you?"

"Enough complaining."

"Tonight, you'll find out exactly what pain feels like, Ciri."

He playfully pushed her head before continuing his meal.

After finishing breakfast, Axel went outside to enjoy the sun.

The manor was lively today.

Two pandas waddled over and dropped onto him.

Looking at the one that nearly overturned his lounge chair, Axel grabbed it by the fur and set it aside.

He lit a cigarette and relaxed.

He wasn't in a hurry to leave the manor.

Today seemed entertaining enough.

More specifically, he wanted to see Alfred and Martha's expressions when they returned.

Hopefully Bruce and Clark would show up too.

Perhaps fate was listening.

Twenty minutes later, Alfred's blue Rolls Royce drove down the manor path.

The car noticeably slowed when it spotted Axel.

Eventually, it stopped nearby.

Alfred stepped out, elegant as ever.

"Master, you're up quite early today."

He then opened the passenger door.

Martha emerged wearing a light purple evening gown, her face slightly flushed.

"Yo."

Axel stood up and waved.

"Martha, you look incredible today."

"If you'd dressed like that the first time you saw me naked, Alfred wouldn't have stood a chance."

"I would've chased you to the ends of the earth."

Martha's face immediately reddened.

She brushed her hair aside and avoided his gaze.

"Axel, your compliments are certainly... unique."

"But I'm sorry."

"In my eyes, Alfred possesses a charm you simply don't."

"That's not an insult."

"You're wonderful, but you're not right for me."

"I feel too old standing beside you."

"But Alfred is different."

"Our ages fit."

"He's the most gentlemanly and elegant man I've ever met."

Despite her embarrassment, Martha linked her arm through Alfred's.

Alfred smiled warmly.

"Your compliment brightens my entire day, madam."

Axel grinned.

"I'm genuinely happy for you both."

"Have you thought about a wedding?"

"And what gifts would you like..."

"...Bruce?"

As Axel teased them, the sound of a Batplane engine echoed overhead.

Alfred's expression instantly changed.

He quickly attempted to lead Martha away.

Unfortunately for him, Axel immediately flashed over and grabbed both of their free hands.

He looked toward the descending aircraft with a fake expression of innocence.

"You still haven't answered my question."

"What wedding gifts do you want?"

Alfred sighed.

"You simply want to watch us embarrass ourselves, Master."

Still, he composed himself and faced the approaching Batplane.

The aircraft landed.

The hatch opened.

Bruce stepped out wearing his Batsuit.

Beside him, Clark emerged wearing a spare Batsuit that had been spray painted blue, minus the cowl.

Bruce alone wasn't a problem.

But when Alfred saw Clark looking directly at his and Martha's linked hands...

His elegant old face instantly turned bright red.

With Axel at the manor last night, Alfred had never worried about Bruce or the estate's safety.

He hadn't even turned on his phone until now and had no idea Clark was with Bruce.

He could face Bruce without issue.

But facing Clark...

His face somehow grew even redder.

Even so, he never let go of Martha's hand.
