"This is one of my private showrooms, reserved exclusively for cars," Maximus announced proudly as he ushered me inside. "I had everything cleared out just for you."
I barely glanced at the luxurious room. "I don't care."
His smile twitched.
I walked past him, already rolling up my sleeves. "Where are the things I asked for?"
"Right there!" he exclaimed, enthusiastically pointing toward the center of the room.
A massive block of stone sat on a reinforced platform, accompanied by a table neatly arranged with an assortment of carving tools.
"Good. You can leave now."
I gathered my hair and tied it into a ponytail, making sure it wouldn't get in the way while I worked.
Maximus blinked. "...That's it?"
I picked up a carving tool. "That's it."
"Not even a thank-you?"
No."
"Not even a little one?"
I raised the tool and positioned it against the stone.
Tap!
A small chip broke off.
"Thank you for leaving."
"That's not what I meant!"
Tap! Tap!
