Chapter 76 - New Threat Rising

The world didn't calm down.

It adapted.

After the battles—

After the reports—

After the fear—

Something new began to move.

Quietly.

— Global Authority —

A secured chamber.

Deep underground.

Leaders from different regions gathered.

Holograms flickered.

Data streamed endlessly.

One phrase repeated across every screen:

"The Ones Beyond"

A commander spoke:

"These entities surpass both hunters and Significants."

Another added:

"We are no longer dealing with anomalies."

A pause.

"This is a new species."

Silence filled the room.

Then—

A decision was made.

"We deploy the Null Protocol."

The lights dimmed.

A final warning appeared:

"Authorization Required: Absolute."

They didn't hesitate.

"Approved."

— High Above —

Mother Cain watched it all.

Serah stood beside her.

"…They're reacting faster than expected."

Cain nodded slightly.

"They're afraid."

A pause.

"And fear accelerates evolution."

Serah crossed her arms.

"…Null Protocol won't be small."

Cain's eyes sharpened.

"I know."

A faint smile.

"That's why I'm letting it happen."

— The First Sign —

A remote city.

Far from the main zones.

Quiet.

Unimportant.

Or so it seemed.

The sky flickered.

Not lightning.

Something else.

Energy.

Unstable.

Then—

A tear.

In the air itself.

People stopped.

Confused.

Afraid.

From the tear—

Something stepped out.

Not human.

Not machine.

Its form shifted.

Unclear.

Unstable.

And yet—

Its presence alone crushed the atmosphere.

People collapsed.

Unable to breathe.

— Juvy —

Back at the base—

Juvy froze mid-step.

Her light flickered.

"…What is that…"

Mara looked at the screen.

"…That's not one of them."

Eli's voice dropped.

"…It's worse."

— Maxruell —

Far away—

Maxruell stopped.

His shadows recoiled instantly.

For the first time—

Fear.

Not his.

Theirs.

"…So something scares you too…"

He looked toward the horizon.

Eyes narrowing.

"…Good."

— The Entity —

It moved.

Slowly.

But with purpose.

The ground beneath it cracked.

Reality itself bending.

A voice echoed—

Not spoken.

Felt.

"Incomplete…"

Silence.

Then—

"Find… the source…"

— High Above —

Serah's eyes widened slightly.

"…That wasn't part of the plan."

Cain didn't respond immediately.

For the first time—

Her expression shifted.

Slightly.

"…No."

A pause.

"…It wasn't."

But then—

She smiled.

"…Even better."

Juvy stepped forward.

"…I'm going."

Mara didn't stop her this time.

"…Be careful."

Far away—

Maxruell stepped into the shadows.

"…Looks like something new showed up."

Two paths.

Moving again.

Toward something unknown.

Something unnatural.

And for the first time—

Even the ones controlling everything…

Didn't fully understand what was coming.
