"Looks like you two brothers are quite famous."
Garen set his greatsword aside and said with a chuckle as he removed his armor.
Jarvan IV, standing nearby, nodded without hesitation and also began to take off his armor:
"Of course, who in Demacia doesn't know us? I just didn't expect people from Zaun to know us too."
The two then sat opposite Chen, waved their hands, and said to the servants behind them:
"Bring the dishes out quickly, our guests are getting impatient."
"Yes."
The servants almost ran to rush the dishes, and plates, each covered with a silver cloche, were brought out.
Powder didn't even know what she was eating; just looking at the exquisitely carved silver cutlery made her hungry.
The dishes were served almost within ten seconds; over a dozen dishes for five people, it looked extravagant.
The servants opened the cloches, revealing exquisite and beautiful Western dishes before them.
The servant began to announce the day's menu:
"Sirs, starting from this side, today's dishes are: Capital Fish Soup, Foie Gras Steak, Capital Lobster, Red Wine Pheasant, Saffron Chicken, and Chicken Liver Steak."
Then, pointing to the other side, he continued:
"Potato Stewed Lamb, Roasted Lamb Saddle, Winter Solstice Pudding, Macaroni and Cheese, Minced Meat Macaroni, and Premium Ham Pizza."
Powder was greatly surprised and prepared to eat a lot, fearing someone might snatch her food. She picked up her fork and frantically piled dishes onto her plate.
Chen cautiously poked Powder:
"Powder, it's not that serious, don't act like a starving ghost reincarnated. We're guests, you should maintain some image…"
Powder didn't hear, or perhaps she simply didn't want to hear, eating without any manners.
However, Jarvan IV, the Prince of Demacia, smiled slightly. It was the first time someone dined with him so unceremoniously, but he didn't mind. Instead, he said with some amusement:
"It's fine. So-called table manners are just political games between great families. After training all morning, I'm too tired to keep up the pretense."
This Prince Jarvan actually had no princely airs at all and was quite approachable. Chen was very surprised; it seemed Jarvan also disliked these feudal rituals.
"Since you've made your stance clear, I'll also be casual."
Garen also began to eat heartily, without any table manners. He was starving after training all morning, and he often ate this way when there were no outsiders.
Jarvan then joined the feast, though he still ate quite elegantly, his speed was by no means slow. Truly worthy of being Demacia's Prince.
"Damn, these three guys eat too much! No matter why they called me here, I'll just eat first! Anyway, I can't eat them poor!"
Chen also joined the frenzied eating, just eating was enough.
Lux, standing by, watched the four with a hint of helplessness. Her two older brothers were usually like this, but she didn't expect the guests to be the same today...
Half an hour later, Powder leaned back in her chair, patting her slightly bulging stomach:
"Ah, satisfied."
Then the others finished eating and stopped their meal. Chen wiped his mouth; the food was indeed delicious.
Chen then looked at the three people opposite him, digesting his food as he slowly asked:
"May I ask what the Crownguard Family and Prince Jarvan wish to discuss with me today?"
Jarvan swirled the stemware in his hand:
"Mr. Chen, Political Commissar of the Wildfire Party, the founder of the Twin Cities' brilliance today, the first to propose the idea of one country, two systems. Am I correct?"
"..."
Chen felt as if his deepest secrets had been exposed:
"No, you actually investigated me? Huh?"
Lux then explained:
"No, not at all. I just routinely had someone inform my brother about today's duel."
Garen nodded, looking at the Prince beside him:
"I was sparring with Jarvan, and he also heard about it. It was Jarvan who wanted to invite you to dinner."
Chen's mind paused, as usual:
"Hmm? Are they passing the buck to each other?"
Prince Jarvan did not deny it, but continued to speak to Chen:
"When I was studying politics, my mentor gave me an exam question, asking how I would solve the problems between the Twin Cities.
So I researched the issues between the Twin Cities. Their relationship has a long history, is intricate and complex, with countless vested interests. I worked on it for a long time but couldn't find a good solution.
I didn't pass that class, but neither did anyone else. No one could come up with a reasonable way to solve the Twin Cities' problems. In the end, my mentor could only cancel the question because he himself didn't have a viable answer.
Until I saw your approach, you truly impressed me."
Chen was momentarily stunned. This was the Prince of Demacia, flattering him, and with rainbow compliments at that!
Chen was a bit overwhelmed, but he still humbly said:
"It wasn't me who solved the problem; it was the people of Zaun, the people of Piltover, the joint efforts of the people of the Twin Cities. The people of the Twin Cities solved the problem."
This righteous speech was enough for the evening news.
Not taking credit or being arrogant, Jarvan's impression of Chen improved even further. So he took a deep breath and said to Chen with extreme seriousness:
"I want to ask for your help, to help Demacia!"
Chen leaned back in his chair. Why this plot again? When he went to Noxus, Swain and LeBlanc were also vying for his help. He was just an ultimate, super-popular laborer, wasn't he?
"No!"
Chen only said these two words!
He immediately gave up. Wasn't the mental torment LeBlanc and Swain gave him enough?
Prince Jarvan thoughtfully stroked his chin, then said to Chen:
"You are a Zaunite. I cannot give you power, but if you want money, or land, or anything else, as long as it's within my capabilities, I can give it all to you."
Chen was very firm, crossing his arms over his chest:
"No matter how much you give, I won't do it. The Twin Cities will not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries. I will never intervene!"
But Jarvan did not give up:
"Name your price."
Chen remained firm:
"What price? I said I won't do it, so..."
Jarvan was still persistent and began to bid:
"One million gold coins."
What did one million gold coins mean? Piltover, a global commercial metropolis, had an annual GDP of only about one million. And Zaun's total GDP over ten years was less than one million!
Chen was dumbfounded, but he thought, how could I bow for a mere one million gold coins:
"One... million? No, I still won't do it!"
Seeing Chen didn't agree, Jarvan immediately raised the price:
"Two million!"
Chen began to waver:
"This... you shouldn't try to bribe me with money..."
Jarvan was still raising the price:
"Three million!"
Chen was already tempted. This money, invested in Zaun's development, eliminating chemical waste gases and wastewater, Zaunites seeing the light of day again would be just around the corner.
But Chen still had some reservations:
"Can you trust me, a Zaunite? It's useless for me to tell you; you won't listen..."
Demacia was a vast and wealthy empire with deep foundations. Jarvan boldly declared:
"Five million! No more!"
"I'll consider it!"
He was offering too much!
