Chapter 57 - CHAPTER - 56

The goddess Hestia stared blankly at Arthur after hearing his declaration.

For a few long seconds, she remained completely silent, her blue eyes fixed on him as if trying to determine whether he was serious or simply making fun of her. The excitement she had felt moments earlier quickly began to cool, replaced by suspicion and embarrassment.

Finally, she turned around abruptly.

"It's not funny to joke about something like that…"

There was frustration in her voice, but also hurt.

From her perspective, it was impossible. A young man who looked this extraordinary—a person whose mere presence radiated strength and refinement—wanting to join her Familia? No matter how naïve she was, even she had limits to what she could believe.

Her divine intuition, even sealed, told her one thing clearly:

Arthur Tempest was not ordinary.

Which only made his claim sound even less believable.

She began walking away, clearly convinced the two of them were mocking her, but Arthur immediately stepped forward to stop her.

"Wait. I'm telling the truth—I really am a novice."

He moved in front of her before she could leave completely, his expression earnest.

"Today is literally my first day in this city."

Hestia puffed her cheeks slightly and tried pushing him aside, though without much force. Deep down, she wanted to believe him, and that made the situation even more frustrating.

"…Then prove it."

Arthur blinked.

"How exactly am I supposed to do that?"

This time, it was Hestia who hesitated. She realized she had no actual way to verify his words.

Fortunately, Eina stepped in before the awkward silence could continue.

"What if you try granting him a Falna?"

Both of them turned toward her.

"If Arthur is already part of another Familia, then your blessing won't work. And if he's secretly a god, the Falna will reject him too. That should settle the issue."

Hestia's eyes widened slightly before she nodded.

"That… actually makes sense."

She turned toward Arthur again, still suspicious but noticeably more hopeful than before.

"Alright then. Arthur, come with me."

Without waiting for an answer, she grabbed his hand and began dragging him through the streets.

Arthur allowed himself to be pulled along quietly, though inwardly he couldn't help but think that being dragged around by girls was becoming an increasingly common occurrence in his life.

After wandering through several streets and narrow alleyways, they eventually arrived in front of an old-fashioned bookstore. The building had a warm, nostalgic atmosphere, and the faint smell of old paper drifted out through the entrance.

The moment Hestia stepped inside, her demeanor softened considerably.

"I'm home!"

An elderly man behind the counter greeted her warmly, clearly accustomed to her presence. After exchanging a few words with him, Hestia led Arthur upstairs into a cramped but cozy room filled with shelves overflowing with books.

At the center stood a small wooden table accompanied by two chairs.

Hestia pointed toward one of them.

"Sit there… and take off your shirt, please."

Arthur obeyed without complaint, removing his shirt and exposing his back to her.

The moment Hestia saw him properly, her cheeks grew slightly warm.

His body was far more impressive than she expected. Broad shoulders, defined muscles, smooth skin—he possessed the kind of physique that looked powerful without becoming bulky. Combined with his handsome appearance, the sight left the petite goddess momentarily flustered.

For some reason, she felt strangely drawn to him.

Realizing her thoughts were beginning to wander, Hestia quickly shook her head and focused on the ritual.

She bit her finger gently, allowing droplets of divine blood to fall onto Arthur's back.

At the same moment—

[Host, an external divine interference has been detected.]

[Do you wish to reject the interference?]

Arthur remained calm.

'No. Allow it.'

The notification surprised him slightly. He hadn't realized the system even possessed defenses against divine power, but knowing it could react automatically to gods made him feel oddly reassured.

Meanwhile, Hestia used her blood to trace sacred characters across his back. One rune after another appeared beneath her fingers, glowing faintly as divine energy filled the room.

As the ceremony progressed, Hestia's heartbeat began to quicken.

It was real.

Arthur truly was unaffiliated.

He genuinely wanted to join her Familia.

The realization sent a wave of happiness crashing through her chest.

Soon, a radiant emblem appeared across Arthur's back—a burning brazier surrounded by intricate rings of divine letters. Warmth spread throughout his entire body, flowing through his limbs like a gentle current.

At first, he thought nothing significant had changed.

Then his senses sharpened dramatically.

The air, the sounds outside, even the movement of dust particles around him suddenly became far clearer than before.

Finally, the ritual came to an end.

Hestia happily leaned forward to examine his newly formed status—

And nearly fell backward out of her chair.

"You… what are you?!"

Her voice trembled with disbelief as she stared at the Falna engraved on his back.

But that shock quickly transformed into overwhelming joy.

"Hahaha! Of course! How foolish of me!"

She puffed out her chest proudly, looking more excited than ever.

"You're obviously destined to become the first member of my Familia!"

Still grinning widely, she copied Arthur's status onto a sheet of paper before handing it to him enthusiastically.

Arthur accepted it with mild curiosity.

"Is my status really that impressive?"

He had expected some of his abilities to influence the Falna, though he wasn't sure to what extent.

At that moment, another notification appeared before him.

[Congratulations. You have obtained "Falna."]

[Reward acquired: Skill — "Grant Falna."]

Arthur's eyes narrowed slightly in interest.

That ability would be extremely useful later… especially for the girls waiting for him back home.

Meanwhile, Hestia was practically vibrating with excitement.

"To call it impressive would be a massive understatement!"

She pointed dramatically at the paper in his hands, her twin tails bouncing behind her.

"Arthur, your status is absolutely monstrous!!!"

Arthur took a look at it.

"You're right; it is good."

Arthur still didn't fully understand the mechanics behind the Falna. Danmachi had never been one of the franchises he was deeply obsessed with in his previous life, so his knowledge was relatively superficial. He decided that later, when he had some time alone, he would ask the System for a more detailed explanation.

"Good?! It's far beyond good—it's incredible!!!"

Hestia suddenly threw herself at him again, wrapping both arms around his neck in pure excitement. In the process, her chest pressed firmly against his face, soft enough that Arthur briefly forgot what they had even been talking about.

"My Arthur is a genius among rookie adventurers~!"

Arthur wisely chose not to complain. Instead, he simply enjoyed the pleasant sensation and the faint sweet fragrance clinging to the goddess's body.

"Not only do you have seven magic slots, but you also possess two unique skills that I've never even heard of before! And the effects written here are completely ridiculous!"

The more Hestia read his Falna, the more excited she became. Her voice rose louder and louder until she was practically bouncing in place.

"See?! Isn't it amazing?!"

Arthur attempted to answer, but his voice came out muffled against her chest.

Only then did Hestia finally realize what she was doing. Her face turned slightly red, and she hurriedly loosened her grip, though she still remained very close to him.

"A-Ah… sorry…"

Arthur smiled faintly before glancing at the paper again.

"If my Status is really that impressive, then I'm one step closer to achieving my dream."

Hestia tilted her head curiously, her twin tails swaying softly behind her.

"Your dream?"

Arthur's expression grew calmer, but there was unmistakable determination in his eyes.

"I want to become the strongest person in this world… and then create the strongest Familia."

For a moment, Hestia was genuinely stunned by the scale of his ambition. Most adventurers dreamed of wealth, fame, or survival.

Arthur's goal was something much larger.

And strangely enough…

Looking at him now, she felt as though he might actually achieve it.

A proud smile slowly appeared on her face.

"Then I'll help you do it."

There wasn't the slightest hesitation in her voice.

Afterward, the two of them returned to the Guild in order to formally register the Hestia Familia with Eina's assistance.

"So the misunderstanding has been resolved?"

Eina asked the question with visible curiosity while organizing several documents behind the counter.

Hestia puffed out her chest proudly.

"Of course! Arthur really is a beginner adventurer!"

Though, judging by her expression, she clearly still couldn't believe her own luck.

After several forms, signatures, and explanations regarding Guild regulations, the registration process was finally completed. The Hestia Familia officially became a recognized Familia within Orario.

Once everything was settled, Arthur thought about his next step.

"I won't be entering the Dungeon today, so I'd like to exchange a few things for local currency first."

He needed Valis if he wanted to function properly in this world.

"I'll guide you!"

Hestia immediately volunteered, grabbing his hand enthusiastically before leading him through the city streets.

The two spent some time wandering through Orario together. Hestia occasionally pointed out important places while Arthur quietly observed the city around him. Eventually, they arrived at a large establishment specializing in the trade of precious metals and valuables.

Arthur sold only a portion of the gold he carried from his previous world, yet even that small amount caused the merchant's eyes to widen dramatically.

After everything was appraised and exchanged, Arthur walked out with nearly five million Valis.

He kept a small reserve of gold in case it became useful later, while the newly acquired money disappeared safely into his Inventory before any thief could even dream of targeting him.

Beside him, Hestia looked almost dazed.

Her Familia had gone from being completely broke…

To having a handsome, talented first member who was also unbelievably rich.

At that moment, the tiny goddess felt an overwhelming sense of happiness welling up inside her.

She tightened her grip on Arthur's arm and leaned against him slightly, unable to suppress the smile spreading across her face.

For the first time since descending to the lower world—

Hestia truly felt that everything was finally beginning to go her way.
