She came in at her usual time, sat in her usual chair, accepted the tea that was already poured because the kitchen had learned her patterns the same way it had apparently learned to track the calendar, and she said: "I will be leaving at the end of the week."
The table absorbed this.
Aelara looked at her. "The Temple."
"Yes. The work there was not finished when I came here. I delayed it because this required me first." She held her cup. "It no longer requires me in the same way. What needed to be present here has been present. What needed to happen has happened." She looked at the table. "The Temple needs me back."
