Ji'an gasped and raised her hands.
But he was faster.
He did not grab or hurt her.
Instead, he placed one hand against the bronze mirror beside her head, trapping her between him and the vanity.
His other hand slowly reached toward her silver hair, as he touched the ends of it.
Ji'an's entire body went stiff.
'This is...'
He was very close.
Far too close.
She could feel the cold coming from his body. She could smell winter pine and the faint scent of ozone around him.
Her heart began pounding. 'He's going to notice.'
Ji'an's mind raced.
My face looks different than usual. Now that the locket is gone, he'll sense my Yin energy. He'll realize I'm a woman. He'll realize I've been deceiving him. He'll kill me!'
But Wangchen did not look suspicious. Not even slightly.
He simply stared at her silver hair. His expression was almost reverent. "Your hair color now matches me."
His voice was barely a whisper.
Ji'an blinked.
But Wangchen leaned even closer.
