Chapter 11 - Thaddeus

"Chief Officer Thaddeus Wei Of Anomaly Affairs. We'd best get to know each other well, right, Stanley?"

Sitting across Stanley quite comfortably with a small grin from his right side, whilst glancing back and forth at Stanley, was Thaddeus. His arms and hands move up and down, while he speaks, like a proper communicator who leads and can teach. The most telling thing about Thaddeus's appearance was a Green Herringbone Tweed hat sitting nicely on his combed-out, slick-back fade. His striking facial features also stood out, making him look like an intimidating leader who leads with his appearance alone. His clothes were even fancier: he wore a night-black leather jacket with plenty of pockets on the front, and a long-sleeved, silky-looking shirt underneath. His pants were a dark-coloured camouflage style, with even more pockets stuffed to the brim, from every spot you looked. Shoes were a bit different, Brown tungsten-capped shoes with the appearance of leather.

The whole persona emanating from Thaddeus Wei was Style, Rule-making and breaking, and Roughness.

Stanley knew this man was too casual for someone trapped in the same endless tiled place as he was.

{He did this. He put me here. Transported me. heh. I'm fucking annoyed and nervous about the huge man in front of me. Thaddeus. Look at him. Grinning like this is going in his favour. It really is, though, and I hate it. I want my own choice here. Dealing with a CELESTICA right now ain't gonna help me out, as I could easily be experimented on and tested. That scares the shit outta me. Where did Tallurre even end up? Does he know I am gone? I really don't want to see him, but he is more trustworthy than "Posh-man" over there. It ain't a comparison. Why did I even walk through that door? I've told myself that a lot now that my actions have consequences. Probably curiosity. heh. I don't know. Curiosity may be a lie itself to my inner consciousness. I felt compelled. More than anything, such as interest. That may be why I wasn't worried when I walked out of that old-ass building to a random city. Or maybe I'm still confused. HM. Life has its treats.}

Thaddeus: "GALACTICA rules the stars. SOLARR keeps them burning. CELESTICA decides what comes next. I'm sure you've heard that before, right, Stan?"

Thaddeus asks Stanley a small question with a voice made to seem political—deep and slow talking.

Stanley: "Of course. Still stuck in my head, quoted from the Grand Regent Roy. It's like really popular."

Stanley responded in his casual tone, made for random people to hear but not too formal enough to match Thaddeus's words.

"We CELESTICA are dangerous, mysterious and scary. All power is relied via us. This place. We use it a lot for one-on-one interviews and talks where absolutely no one can know. Pretty scary, right?"

Thaddeus's tone switched from military style to laid-back casualness with sarcasm that doesn't make him sound like a douche bag. He recognises Stanley's tone and matches it to bond.

{Is that his normal voice? He sounds like the average Joe from a bustling city of normal-ass working-class people. It's almost hilarious how fast he switched up after hearing a few words from me.}

"Yeah, yeah. Thaddeus." Stanley got even more casual to see if he really was that chill as his "voice" makes him out to be. Sarcasm flowed out of his words. Stanley raised one eyebrow at him, which would give most the idea that he is feeling suspicious of Thaddeus.

Thaddeus then changed his posture into a man who seemed lazy, generic and like a "Bum".

He spread his legs open wide and swung his left arm over the chair, while his right was holding up his head, with his elbow on top of the armrest.

"Ay look. I can match your tone if you really want me to. I can communicate well with most. People say it's a gift of mine. As I was saying, Lotta things can happen if you don't talk it out with me here. Oh, and no one would be looking for you, as your "Perspective" of you is here now, whilst your body is like asleep and shit. Imagine like your brain's thoughts have been "Taken out", like whisked away with a net of some sort and placed into here. Your brain still thinks it has a physical body inside here, so I'd recommend keeping it like that or else like you're gonna morph slowly into whatever you believe is you."

Stanley took a few seconds to register the information that got put into his head and thought of an answer, or else he wouldn't comprehend it.

{Huh? So, not my body, but like a manifestation of "Stanley Kleitos" from "Stanley Kleitos" himself. Why the fuck am I talking in first person anyway? This is my brain, which isn't third person.}

Stanley: "Uh. hmm. I guess I can try Thaddeus. You know, I'm not really intimidated anymore, if your goal was to do that."

Stanley's posture changed when he heard that he was imagining himself being there, but still in the moment. He maintained the casualness he had earlier. and nearly copied Thaddeus's seating position, except he swung both arms around the armrests, hugging the chair.

Thaddeus: "I'm trying to get to know you. This is the best way, as I can see it. I'm not gonna be like a guy who's asking icebreaker questions, I'll still be interviewing you about that anomaly, and talk about the situation you're in. Like in that Dynexis spaceship right now."He nearly mumbled a few words here and there. He lost his formality by a huge margin.

His Face now displays boredom, slumber and deep eyes. His face sank into his right hand, making him look sleepy.

Stanley seemed a bit distressed, his eyebrows rising slowly and his eyes widening in shock, but that was the only other emotion shown on his face. He now felt more comfortable with Thaddeus, not uptight but casual. Both were now casual as ordinary people in a room. which they weren't.

"Huhh? So you do know where I am right now, right?"

Stanley stated.

Thaddeus: "Yes, of course. Thorough investigation and shit." His vocabulary took another hit in terms of formality, making him sound like an ordinary man.

{Hmm. Let's test this out. I don't see or hear any threatening tone, and he said so; he wanted to get to know me better in this conversation.}

Thaddeus quickly stated next, "Oh, your Surane, right? Being a Surane person means you have a good poker face, unless you're really worried. You do look a lot calmer than most would seem, especially since I am in the room. People get scared of me easily.

{Oh, he's talking about the Suran trait that separates me from the average being. I really don't believe when people say I look intimidating, overconfident and in thought. Genetics is working once again. I mean, being a Suran has its benefits, as I can really stand out with a normal facial expression. I think like a normal person, though. I'm not as special as people make me out to be.}

Stanley was looking at Thaddeus with another face of deep thought, his eyes slowly moving around as he thought about himself. Compared to the average intelligent being, Stanley Kleitos and other Surane beings look more emotionally secure, intimidating, and, in some cases, emotionless, even if they think equally.

"You really panicked, though, when you had that talk in that back room, Stan. I saw that as I was preparing this place. Actually hilarious, when y-"

Thaddeus was speaking slowly, trying to make his words have more effect, which did affect Stanley, who cut him off.

"Yeah, that happened, Thaddeus. Fear of kidnapping and torture is pretty normal, right?"

Thaddeus squeezed his lips together while recollecting the whole situation that had happened a few hours ago. He was about to laugh, His eyes wide, mouth sealed and sucked inwards, just like holding in a reaction to a funny joke.

"Shit, Stan, didn't you go there yourself? You followed Ahnel, who took you to a shady bakery, and didn't turn around?"

Stanley's face was cracking, as his face started looking more gloomy. His eye bags were highlighted as he glared deeply with annoyance and embarrassment.

"Dumb decisions happen in moments of desperation. Obviously." Stanley replied in a monotone, which made him sound as if he were trying to prove himself right.

Thaddeus looked down, in thought, then looked up, grinning like a man who knew everything and had all the tools to prove Stanley wrong.

Thaddeus: "HM. And, you could've had so many better ways of leaving Clifford. If you were that desperate and not stupid, that necklace could have bought you a space-time ticket."

"Hey, Stanley, Wake up. Heyyyyyyyyy. Oi.

"Hey?"

Tallurre Ufushimi tapped the sleeping Stanley Kleitos on his shoulder, expecting him to wake up and talk to him, but sadly there was no reaction. The lifelessness of Stanley continued to stand out like a mannequin slowly breathing.

"Stanley."

Silence was all the noise that happened to be there in place of Tallurre's words. He could only focus on getting to the destination that is close by. Persei, Ymir-22.

He quickly focused on driving and steering his vehicle, leaving all of his attention off Stanley and onto the void of space outside.
