Chapter 119 - Chapter 119: Targeted, Inference Correct

After discovering he was being watched, Hunter, who had returned from Boston,

was no longer in a hurry to see Mia and Slater.

Even regarding Tali, he only made time to go see her every night.

Taking advantage of the time he slipped away, Hunter got her a new phone.

Along the way, he also seriously warned Tali that her previous bank cards, social media accounts, and so on, could no longer be used.

In the following days, he noticed that there always seemed to be a few familiar faces following him.

Although the other party acted very professionally and controlled their tracking distance well,

Hunter still discovered these trackers thanks to his increasingly excellent memory.

From the other party's actions, he was almost certain that these trackers were from the FBI.

Because only by finding evidence of Dominic's hijacking of goods could they convict him.

But in the past, every time Dominic and his crew hijacked trucks transporting electronic products on the California Highways,

they would quickly turn the stolen electronics into cash through various channels.

Dominic was meticulous, which was why he had managed to evade the California police for the past several years.

This time, although he had been discovered by the FBI,

if Hunter hadn't acted, Dominic and the others would have inevitably been exposed.

But!

Hunter had acted!

The most direct evidence—those electronic products worth millions of us dollars—had been transported away with Hunter's help and even sold over in Boston.

As the world's most complex market and also the globe's largest smuggling nation,

once any product entered the United States' smuggling market, trying to find it again

was much harder than having Dominic and the others take a desperate risk to pull a heist again and being caught red-handed by the FBI.

If the United States' vast and complex smuggling market were really that easy to track and clean up,

this country wouldn't have become the world's largest smuggling nation.

So, Hunter wasn't actually worried about being targeted by the FBI.

He knew very well that even if the FBI suspected him, they wouldn't find any evidence.

What Hunter needed to do was temporarily avoid contact with Dominic and the others.

If he had to say there was one point left behind for the FBI to suspect,

it would probably be that 600,000 us dollars reward!

However, during his few days in Boston and Springfield City, Hunter had already withdrawn all the money.

That bank card was essentially voided.

Even if the FBI investigated and found that there had been a transfer record between Hunter and Dominic,

he could answer that it was the reward from when Mia sought his help to bail out Dominic and the others.

Whether the FBI believed it or not didn't matter!

Because they couldn't find any more evidence to prove Hunter had helped Dominic and his crew smuggle those hijacked goods.

In the United States, it isn't very difficult for the FBI to suspect an ordinary person of a crime and ultimately convict them.

They concoct a fair number of wrongful convictions every year, and there are even specialized legal aid organizations in the US that keep a close eye on the FBI.

But since they are a coercive agency and also one of the United States' important intelligence agencies,

once an ordinary person is framed by the FBI, it's still a bit of trouble.

But trying to convict a suspected wealthy person is not something the FBI can just do on a whim.

Hunter wasn't short of money now; compared to the FBI, he was actually more worried about being targeted by the IRS.

This was one of the reasons why as soon as that 600,000 us dollars hit his account, it was immediately all withdrawn.

After making some targeted arrangements for the possible points of suspicion on himself,

Hunter, now fully prepared, stopped caring about those FBI Agents tailing him, treating them as if they didn't exist.

After all, on the surface, he was just an ordinary Asian Youth who had just reached adulthood.

A few months ago, Hunter was still just an ordinary mechanic.

Significant changes had occurred within him over the past few months.

It was far from something that could be explained clearly in just a few sentences.

Regardless, Hunter was already fully prepared and was just waiting for the FBI's next move.

Therefore, he wasn't panicked at all.

Taking advantage of this period where he was being watched by the FBI and temporarily couldn't contact Mia and Slater,

Hunter went out early, and every day was spent in a busy state.

With money, some of his previous plans could finally be put into practice.

Hunter enrolled himself in many training classes: Tennis, Badminton, Basketball, Fitness, as well as Taekwondo and Judo.

He actually went to Chinatown here in Los Angeles as well, but unexpectedly, it didn't trigger any skills... Otherwise, with the proficiency system, Hunter would definitely have seriously studied some martial arts for self-defense.

He had already realized the necessity of learning these combat skills through his study of Boxing.

Most Eastern and Western combat techniques follow a simple and practical route.

Boxing, Taekwondo, and Judo are all much the same.

And Hunter, after raising his Boxing skill to level 3 or above,

gradually discovered that if one doesn't master any combat techniques, then when fighting others, it all depends on individual physical stats, endurance, and stamina.

But mastering high-level and practical combat skills allows one to easily knock down an opponent using only seventy, sixty, or even twenty to thirty percent of the other person's power.

Not only is it more efficient, but it also saves a lot of one's own stamina.

And in terms of complexity and technicality,

Chinese's fist and leg techniques are far more complex than Boxing, Taekwondo, Judo, and so on.

After all, these are experiences and combat techniques summarized by ancestors over hundreds or even thousands of years.

They are suited to the physical constitution of the Chinese people, mostly aimed at achieving the goal of defeating the strong with weakness and the many with the few.

Unfortunately, after Hunter took a stroll around Chinatown in Los Angeles,

he did discover several Martial Arts Gyms over there.

Regrettably, after entering, he found they were either Karate, Judo, or Taekwondo gyms practicing false advertising,

or they were simply scammers, making it impossible for Hunter to even trigger a skill.

However, after a few days had passed and after splurging hundreds of thousands of us dollars,

along with the diligent guidance of over a dozen personal trainers, during these few days,

the levels of the dozen or so newly triggered skills had all been raised by more than two levels.

Hunter proved that his previous hypotheses were all correct.

With the proficiency system, he could spend money to hire elites from all walks of life to impart various professional skills to him.

And rapidly rack up experience to raise skill levels, thereby earning huge numbers of skill points.

For Hunter, this is undoubtedly fantastic news.

Because it also means that, one day in the future, he might really become an omniscient, omnipotent being.

Well, provided the proficiency system has no level cap... P.S. New book out—check out my older work supernatural: i have a small world.
