Kai woke them up the next morning with a gentle knock on the guest room door.
The sun was just beginning to rise, soft golden light filtering through the curtains. Damian stirred first, blinking against the brightness, Zayn's arm still draped over his waist. His body felt heavy, the side effect of not getting any sleep. How could he possibly sleep? Especially after finding out that he was a wolf and his own kind would be seeking him out because of something he couldn't control, not to mention the entire ordeal with Selene.
"Time to go," Kai said from the doorway, voice low but firm. "I have somewhere I need to be. I'll drop you off on the way."
Zayn sat up slowly, wincing at the bruises on his face. He glanced at Damian, concern flickering in his eyes, he could tell the boy barely slept, his dull eyes and the bag under them told him everything he needed to know.
