Mireya felt a bead of sweat roll down her neck. Her mind raced, searching for a lie that wouldn't sound like a confession of her own depravity.
She couldn't tell him that she had been standing there, practically salivating at the thought of his wife being ravaged by a man half her age.
"Oh! Mr. Cassius! You're... you're back!" she stammered, her voice pitching higher than usual.
She forced a strained, awkward smile, her hands fidgeting with the fabric of her skirt. "Apollo is... he's in his room..."
"He's fast asleep. He had a very long date with me, you know."
Cassius nodded slowly, though his eyes remained suspicious. "That boy... hahaha! How dare he take a nap while leaving his girlfriend like this."
He glanced at the master bedroom door, then back at Mireya's flushed face. "And Amelia? Rex? They haven't come down to greet me?"
