The main road to the academy's east gate looked like Aethelgard in the morning, when it was being rebuilt, with a clear goal and direction.
Lily held Rex's hand for a block, and Diana's shoulder brushed against his at two of the busier intersections.
Then Lily asked, "Did Mara seem different to you this morning?"
"She looked the same." Diana said, "Other than the part where she was pregnant."
"That's what I mean," Lily said. "She was clearly pregnant. And Marceline too."
"Marceline is pregnant too." Diana said, "How do you know that?"
"They look so mature and motherly..."
"You're so innocent when it comes to a talk like this." Diana sighed.
They walked another half-block.
"Both Marceline and Mara," Lily said, "were pregnant at the same time."
Diana agreed. "Yup, a weird coincidence, huh?"
Rex kept going while thinking to himself. 'These two girls... what are they on about now...'
