Rose's Point Of View
He paused, savoring my fear like a connoisseur sampling vintage wine. I could hear him shifting in his chair on the other side of the world, could imagine him leaning forward, those cold eyes gleaming with dark anticipation. The sound of leather creaking carried across the line… expensive, Italian leather that probably cost more than my monthly rent.
"It would be so romantic, don't you think?" Diego's voice drifted through the line, heavy with sick, playful amusement. "Me, sweeping you off your feet in person?" The way he said it made my skin crawl, each syllable dripping with possession. "I would buy you a ticket on a private jet, Rose. None of that commercial trash for my girl. I can already picture you arriving at the villa… the sun setting over the Mediterranean, the staff lined up to greet you."
