Rose's Point Of View
"Just breathe, Rose. Just... breathe," I choked out, my voice fracturing into jagged shards inside the narrow plastic stall.
I pulled my knees to my chest on the toilet seat, burying my face in my crossed arms. My entire body trembled from the aftershocks of Mason's kiss, my lips still burning with the taste of copper from my bitten tongue and the faint mint of his afternoon coffee. The sensation lingered like a brand, marking me with the weight of what I'd just done.
I lied to him. I looked him dead in those beautiful, trusting eyes and lied straight to his face.
Fresh tears spilled over my eyelids, soaking into the cheap fabric of my corporate blazer. The guilt pressed down on my lungs like a physical weight, making every breath feel like swallowing broken glass. I hated myself. I despised the fact that I had to treat the one man who actually loved me like an enemy to evade in the hallways.
