Nadia's Point Of View
My heart launched straight into my throat, cutting off my ability to breathe. The world around me seemed to tilt dangerously, the yellow lights above swimming in my vision like stars falling from the sky. My fingers went numb, tingling with the rush of adrenaline and shock. The one secret I spent every waking hour trying to bury, the one truth I desperately tried to mask with designer clothes, expensive jewelry, and a rotten attitude, was being thrown back in my face like garbage tossed into the street.
All my carefully constructed armor… the snide remarks, the entitled behavior, the expensive possessions crumbled to dust in an instant, leaving me exposed and raw. I felt like that seven-year-old girl again, standing in the orphanage hallway with nothing but a plastic bag of belongings, terrified and alone, watching other children get chosen while I remained invisible.
