Seraphina turned slowly, her heels pivoting on the smooth limestone with infuriatingly calm, mechanical precision. The bright yellow accent lights from the grand entryway caught the sharp angles of her face, illuminating a small, tight expression of complete indifference that made my blood boil instantly.
She didn't look like a woman whose entire career hung by a single tattered thread. She looked like she owned the damn steps beneath her feet. That confidence… that unshakable, maddening confidence was a slap in the face to everything I'd worked to build here.
