Seraphina's Point Of View
I coughed violently, the sound hacking through the quiet office as I nearly choked on my own saliva. My hands flew to my throat, chest heaving as I fought to regain control of my breathing, ears ringing with the sudden rush of blood. I slammed my palm down on the mahogany desk, rattling the empty glass that sat precariously near the edge.
"Are you entirely, completely insane, Rose?!" I finally gasped out, my voice cracking in a high-pitched register that betrayed every ounce of my panic. The words tumbled out in a rush, tripping over themselves in their urgency to escape. "Like, did you hit your head on the elevator door on the way down? What is actually wrong with your brain?"
