Azriel's Point Of View
The barrel of my gun pressed so firmly into the intruder's temple that I could feel the slight tremor of their skull against the cold steel. My pulse didn't quicken; instead, it slowed into that icy, rhythmic thrum I recognized… the one that surfaced when I stood seconds away from ending a life.
The familiar calm settled over me like a second skin. I tightened my grip on the throat, watching the shadow struggle in the dim light of evening, their silhouette jerking against my hold.
"What are you doing in my room?" I repeated, my voice scraping like boots on a jagged floorboard.
