Koa's POV
I couldn't help the satisfaction that settled deep in my chest.
At the end of the day, I won.
Power always won even when it was cruel.
"Be with him, my foot," I scoffed under my breath, still riding the warmth of knowing I had stopped her. Whatever she thought she was going to do with him—ended.
My wolf snarled sharply inside me, cutting through that satisfaction.
I frowned. "What now? I handled it, didn't I?"
Silence didn't follow.
"You keep making mate angry," Rex said, his voice low, edged with frustration. "She will never want us like this."
"That's the plan," I replied, a smirk tugging at my lips.
Rex went quiet for a second, then—
"No." His tone hardened. "That plan is failing. You push her away, you provoke her, and now she wants someone else. Anyone else but you."
My jaw tightened.
That was supposed to be the plan but it didn't feel good anymore.
I couldn't tell if it was because she had bruised my ego that made me this way.
