Life hung by a fragile thread.
A truth so damnable that most people endeavor to forget it. They live forgetting they can die at any moment. A moment is all it could take to snuff out something cultivated for decades.
Sitting in the sanctity of one's home, they may feel safe, but an earthquake could collapse that building at any moment. An intruder may come in and mercilessly rob one of all they have. Lying in an open park with no trees, animals, or other people around… one could have a heart attack.
Life was never assured.
A constant gamble.
Getting rich and living a healthy lifestyle was only stacking the cards or loading the dice. There was no way to overcome this fragility.

However, he'd found a loophole. A way to overcome uncertainty.
How?
Simple.
"You choose your death."
The young man looking over at him, his eyes twitching through the slits in his visor, scooted away.
