**Chapter 208: Reunion with Kazuya Shimotsuki**
It was precisely because of the Null Zone's unique nature that the Collector had chosen to reside there.
The Collector, originally known as Taneleer Tivan, was a high-dimensional being and one of the Elders of the Universe. Though he appeared as an ancient human, he was actually a powerful alien with immortality, time-travel, and precognition. His immortality stemmed from a lost bet with the goddess of death, which forever barred him from setting foot in the realm of death.
The Collector's obsession with collecting had reached such an extreme that he began hoarding anything he deemed rare or valuable, purely for the sake of acquisition.
The fact that the Ancient One had obtained the Cloak of Levitation from the Collector was a testament to the cloak's extraordinary nature.
"It seems I must eventually visit the Null Zone," Chen Chen murmured to himself, various thoughts flashing through his mind. "The Collector's collection there might surpass the scope of even Odin's treasury. Obtaining it would be ideal, and I also want to learn more about the Cloak of Levitation from him."
"But let's finish dealing with this 'Supreme Sorcerer' mess on Earth first," Chen Chen said, looking up slightly to meet the Ancient One's gaze. "Master Ancient One, when exactly will the Three Great Ancient Demon Gods hold the ceremony?"
"In a week," the Ancient One replied slowly, her lips parting slightly. "If you hadn't just returned today, I was planning to notify you. After all, I only received the Demon Gods' notice yesterday.
And you should know that many sorcerers from different realms will be present, all of them 'eager to test you.' They all want to personally assess the strength of someone who has been directly passed the mantle by me."
The Ancient One couldn't help but show a hint of schadenfreude as she continued, "Especially one of your challengers, Doctor Voodoo. His magical prowess is quite impressive."
Time flashed by.
Today was a momentous occasion for the Sorcerer World.
The Supreme Sorcerer's succession ceremony, coupled with the magical tournament hosted by the Three Great Ancient Demon Gods, was about to usher in a new era for the Sorcerer World.
Kamar-Taj, usually a place of tranquility, was now bustling with activity. Countless Sorcerers and Supernatural Researchers from across the globe roamed the grounds, their attire as varied as their origins—some in structured robes, others in white hunting garments, and still others in traditional Daoist robes.
These were all candidates for the Supreme Sorcerer position, or at least those who came to pay their respects to this esteemed title.
Chen Chen, however, the current focus of all this attention, felt no such reverence. All he wanted was to get this troublesome affair over with quickly and leave Earth for Asgard to enhance his power.
He strolled casually through the square, his presence seemingly unnoticed by the surrounding Sorcerers, who likely had never seen his photograph.
As he wandered, Chen Chen's indifferent gaze swept over the excited faces around him. Some stood with hands clasped behind their backs, exuding an air of confident determination, while others displayed various eccentricities.
What surprised Chen Chen most was that the majority of these candidates were young. Even the oldest among them appeared to be middle-aged, likely no more than forty years old.
This was supposed to be a competition for the Supreme Sorcerer, so you'd expect it to be filled with those who had mastered profound knowledge and spells, and possessed formidable combat power. Yet, the crowd was overwhelmingly young—a fact that puzzled Chen Chen.
"Actually, this is quite normal," a voice suddenly replied, as if sensing Chen Chen's confusion. He turned to see the Ancient One, though she seemed to be under some kind of spell that only he could perceive.
"Master Ancient One, you're quite the idler. Shouldn't you be preparing for the ritual instead of hanging around here?" Chen Chen said, observing her peculiar state.
"It doesn't matter. You'll still inherit my position in the end. The ritual the Three Great Ancient Demon Gods have set up is already quite hollow," the Ancient One replied dismissively, waving her hand. "I noticed you seem puzzled by the age of the sorcerers present?"
"Don't you think they're all too young? This should be the grandest event in the Sorcerer World, yet there are hardly any old masters," Chen Chen grumbled, his gaze drifting to the young figures around him.
Sorcerers are self-aware, knowing full well what their titles signify. These aren't mere symbols of honor and power; they represent a profound responsibility. When faced with invasions from powerful entities, the Supreme Sorcerer bears the duty of safeguarding the safety and peace of Earth's magical side.
Thus, the immense burden carried by the Supreme Sorcerer is one they cannot easily bear. Naturally, those old guard wouldn't compete for it. Instead, they encourage their juniors to participate, partly to have them greet me in the family's name—a gesture of respect toward me—and partly to use this grand competition as training for their juniors. After all, facing such an event would be an invaluable experience for them. Moreover, an opportunity like this, a cross-dimensional battle established by the Three Great Ancient Demon Gods, is exceedingly rare.
"I see," Chen Chen nodded, finally understanding the nuances after hearing the Ancient One's explanation.
"However, as you said, I must now prepare for the upcoming ritual."
The Ancient One stretched lazily, then performed a complex hand gesture. An orange spatial portal materialized from the void, and she stepped through, ready to depart. But as if remembering something, she pulled her bald head back through the portal and addressed Chen Chen:
"Right, Chen Chen, go easy on them later. You know your own strength. If you slaughter these youngsters without mercy, I'll have a lot of cleanup on my hands. I don't want this grand magical gathering to become a dark chapter in magical history."
With that, the Ancient One vanished with a *whoosh*.
"I'm not some bloodthirsty maniac," Chen Chen muttered, shaking his head in exasperation. The Ancient One always treated him like some dangerous figure. Didn't she know he was a model youth—idealistic, moral, cultured, and disciplined? How could he possibly act recklessly?
Glancing around, Chen Chen resumed wandering aimlessly through the square. He stopped before a densely packed temple and couldn't help but observe it with curiosity.
