Chapter 107 - 200: Research Data

Having experienced Chen Chen's miraculous ability, Trevor Slattery had no doubt that Chen Chen could plunder his memories. He immediately spilled everything he knew. "I can also take you to the cargo ship."

The idea of using the "War Machine" as a disguise, boarding the presidential plane, killing the guards in mid-air, kidnapping the president, and then executing him on the cargo ship before the entire world—this was truly the work of a madman.

As Tony listened to Trevor Slattery's explanation of Killian's plan, his shock grew. "Chen Chen, this Killian is a madman. We can't let him run wild any longer."

"We'd better hurry to the presidential plane. That way, we might still be able to stop Killian."

With one hand, Chen Chen opened a spatial portal. Grabbing Trevor Slattery by the collar with the other, he and Tony stepped through the portal, emerging in a stark white, laboratory-like environment.

"Chen Chen, where is this?" Tony asked, looking around in surprise.

"This is one of Killian's labs," Chen Chen said, gently lifting the unconscious Trevor Slattery, who had been knocked out by the spatial jump. "According to the information Trevor gave me, Rhodey is likely imprisoned here. So, we'll start by searching this place. Once we find Rhodey, we'll get out of here."

"Besides, this seems to be Killian's base of operations for researching the Extremis Virus. Destroying it would really sting him, wouldn't it?"

With a wicked smile, Chen Chen strode confidently down the lab's corridor, his movements ostentatious.

Watching Chen Chen's blatant actions and recalling his earlier declaration to "destroy this place," Tony couldn't help but feel speechless. He shook his head.

As a scientist, he was intensely curious about the Extremis Virus, even though it was an unstable and incomplete technology. Moreover, the lab was well-equipped, and destroying it would be a terrible waste of resources. Though Tony thought this, he kept his silence, knowing he couldn't stop Chen Chen if he was determined to act.

Just then, several burly men in black suits approached the trio. Seeing Tony in his Iron Man suit and Chen Chen in his bizarre, cloak-wearing attire, they immediately sensed something was wrong. As they reached for their guns, Tony blasted them away with his palm cannon, sending their bodies arcing through the air like cannonballs.

Reaching a fork in the road, Chen Chen casually tossed Trevor to Tony. "We'll split up. Find Rhodey and notify me immediately—I'll blow this place up."

With that, he vanished from the spot, leaving Tony bewildered and Trevor unconscious.

Tony watched Chen Chen stroll away, hands clasped behind his back, looking completely at ease as he surveyed his surroundings. He seemed to be taking a leisurely stroll through his own backyard, utterly unfazed by being in the enemy's stronghold.

Yet despite this casual demeanor, with a single step, Chen Chen vanished from his position. Before any sound could register, his figure reappeared twenty meters away.

Every enemy he encountered along the way was dead before they could even react.

"This laboratory is quite extensive," Chen Chen remarked as he casually surveyed the surroundings. He noticed that Killian's facility was well-equipped, even containing numerous rooms resembling containment chambers and solitary confinement cells.

Chen Chen speculated that these rooms were likely used to imprison and monitor the subjects of the Extremis Virus experiments.

However, Chen Chen was merely guessing. His primary purpose in coming to the laboratory wasn't to sightsee; rescuing Rhodey was only a secondary objective. The main goal was to obtain all of Killian's research on the Extremis Virus.

Although the Extremis Virus was still imperfect and riddled with instability, its effects were formidable. It could regenerate limbs, grant humans extraordinary healing abilities and physical prowess, and even allow the body to erupt in 3,000-degree heat. If this technology were used to mass-produce soldiers, it would undoubtedly be a nightmare for any enemy.

Chen Chen's perception spread out like a tidal wave, instantly enveloping the entire laboratory as he frantically searched for information. After several rounds of extensive scanning, he finally locked onto an inconspicuous small room.

With a flash, Chen Chen materialized in front of the door.

Upon closer inspection, he noticed the room lacked any security measures like password locks or fingerprint scanners. It didn't even have a proper lock. Reaching out, he pulled the door open and strode inside.

The interior was small, almost cramped. Rows of rusted iron shelves lined the walls, further crowding the already tight space. Thick layers of dust covered the documents stored on these shelves, making it seem as though every breath of air was thick with grime.

Chen Chen showed no disgust at the sight. Instead, his face lit up with admiration as he murmured, "If I hadn't used my techniques to search, no one would have ever thought Killian would hide the Extremis Virus research data in this dilapidated little room."

Chen Chen walked to a small corner deep in the room and casually flicked his hand. Cracks like shattered glass appeared in the space, swallowing the iron shelves and various debris that had blocked his path, as if banishing them to another dimension.

Squatting down, Chen Chen ran his hand over the floor where the iron shelves and debris had been. He pried up a floor tile, revealing a hollow space beneath. Inside, a briefcase lay quietly.

A smile played on his lips as he grabbed the briefcase and opened it. The contents were sparse: two small laptops and a leather-bound notebook.

He flipped open the notebook, its pages filled with dense formulas. Chen Chen, well-versed in theoretical knowledge, skimmed through it at a glance. The formulas pertained to human genetics, as well as theories and hypotheses about the body's self-repair mechanisms.

"This is it," he said with satisfaction, closing the notebook. He stored everything in his spatial storage. As for the contents of the laptops, he decided to study them later.
