Silence remained in the room, broken only by their breathing and the distant sounds.
Luna's hands stayed cupped around Damian's face, her thumbs resting against his cheeks.
His hand covered hers, the warmth of the contact anchoring both of them.
Then her gaze tracked away, finding something in the corner of the room that wasn't there.
Her whisper emerged small and broken, carrying guilt underneath.
"I... I'm sorry."
A pause, her breathing becoming audible.
"You must be so tired and exhausted and I'm being like this, dumping all my emotions on yo–"
Her voice cracked slightly, words tumbling faster.
"I'm supposed to be helping you rest, not making everything worse by breaking down and demanding promises and–"
Her hands started to pull away, to give him space he clearly needed.
But before she could withdraw completely, a sound stopped her cold.
