At the Capital's adventurer's guild, Maddy and Johnn pushed through the heavy wooden doors, weary but successful after completing their latest guild quest. They walked up to the counter to submit their official report, but the reception was far from welcoming.
The guild receptionist stared back at them, her eyes flashing with a sharp, barely concealed anger. She had harbored a massive crush on Johnn, and seeing Maddy standing confidently by his side as his official partner filled her with intense jealousy. She snatched the paperwork with an aggressive, petty flourish, muttering under her breath.
Maddy, paying no mind to the receptionist's sour attitude, turned around to head toward the main hall.
