Domestic fans had been counting down the days for a whole week.

They refreshed overseas box-office updates nonstop, watched the district memes explode online, and basically vibrated with anticipation.

"It's almost here! China's release is only a week after North America!"

"The efficiency this time—usually it's a month minimum!"

"Has to be because of Cassius. Lionsgate finally figured out the Asian market is money."

"Pre-sales when? My wallet's already loaded."

The second pre-sales opened across Asia on the Monday after North America's second weekend, the servers couldn't handle it.

China's biggest ticketing platforms froze for a solid thirty minutes. Once they stabilized, the numbers went nuclear.

In just two hours, pre-sales hit fifty million RMB—new record for any imported film.

Twenty-four hours later? One hundred and fifty million and still climbing.

Japan and Korea were on fire too, smashing their own import pre-sale records.

---

Cassius walked into Rob's office and found his manager pacing like a caged animal.

Rob had swapped the Green Lantern poster on the wall for a massive Peeta one. Cassius just shook his head.

"You're way too calm about this," Rob said, staring at him. "You know how insane the Asian pre-sales are?"

Cassius poured himself a fresh cup from Rob's fancy new coffee machine. The beans smelled amazing.

"Lionsgate's Asia team told me they've never seen anything like it in twenty years. China's expectations for this movie are off the charts."

"Fans have been waiting forever," Cassius said, taking a sip.

Rob dropped onto the couch, making it creak. "It's more than that. Their research shows your fans organized like an army—DIY promos, translated content, the works."

Cassius opened Weibo on his phone.

The trending list was dominated by The Hunger Games and his name. Several fan-made posts were blowing up.

One group had taken Lionsgate's "Find Your District" quiz, fully localized it into Chinese, added funny notes, and hosted it on a domestic server so people behind the firewall could play. It went viral instantly.

Districts were everywhere now.

"I'm District 3—tech nerds, who's with me?"

"District 7 forestry crew reporting in—gonna wear green to the theater for the vibe."

"District Capitol fashion girl here, ready to shine!"

"District 12 forever! For Cassius and Big Cousin!"

Fans started organizing pack screenings by district—matching T-shirts, custom signs, group chats, the whole thing. Some even planned post-movie meetups.

Cassius scrolled, quietly stunned by the energy.

He logged into his verified Weibo account—already past a million followers and racing toward two million.

He typed a quick post:

"Just saw the insane pre-sale numbers and all the cool stuff you guys are doing. I don't even know what to say except thank you. Hope everyone enjoys the movie, finds your district, meets your fellow tributes. May the odds be ever in your favor."

He attached a still of Peeta and hit send.

Comments flooded in within seconds.

"District 12 checking in!"

"Big Cousin and Brother-in-Law Bro, we'll see you at the theater!"

"May the odds be ever in your favor too!"

Lionsgate's Asia team was grinning ear to ear. They quickly pivoted their strategy, amplifying the best fan content and even sending official posters and postcards to some of the bigger district pack screenings.

---

Opening day in Asia finally arrived.

Theaters were packed. In the district-organized screenings, groups of young people wearing matching colors or stickers huddled together, buzzing with excitement and taking photos.

District 12 fans held up cute "Bread will be provided" signs.

Capitol fans showed up dressed to the nines.

A few even came as full Katniss cosplay.

Once the lights went down and the movie started, the theaters filled with gasps, cheers, and sniffles.

When Katniss volunteered for Prim…

When Peeta said she was his everything in the interview…

When they huddled together in the cave…

A lot of people were wiping their eyes by the end.

The second the credits rolled, spontaneous applause broke out in multiple theaters.

Douban opened at 8.7. Other platforms were 9.5 and above.

"Way better than I expected—the adaptation is perfect!"

"Jennifer is Katniss. Cassius's Peeta is gentle but strong—I cried so hard!"

"Effects, pacing, acting—all on point. Already planning my second watch!"

"That nightlock scene destroyed me."

"I'm officially a permanent resident of District 12 now."

China's opening day: 110 million RMB. No contest for the day's box-office crown, and it crushed every other film playing by a mile.

Japan and Korea sent back equally strong numbers. In Korea especially, the lingering "Cassius is secretly Korean" meme actually helped drive turnout—fans loved the edgy scale of the movie.

Hollywood insiders were stunned by how hard The Hunger Games hit Asia.

The Hollywood Reporter ran a quick piece: "The Hunger Games Explodes in Asia—China Becomes Surprise Box-Office Monster, Cassius's Star Power and Cultural Resonance Prove Decisive."

---

Back in Beverly Hills, Cassius was sipping coffee on the couch when Rob called again.

"Lionsgate just moved you to their core asset list. Sequel talks are heating up—they're ready to get way more generous on the next contract!"

Cassius smiled, set the mug down, and flipped on the TV.

Every entertainment segment was running the same headline: The Hunger Games global box office just crossed 827 million and showed no signs of slowing.

He leaned back, the numbers still sinking in.

One year ago he was scraping by as an extra.

Now he was the guy who helped light two global franchises on fire back-to-back.

And the best part? It was only the beginning.
