Chapter 115 - Chapter 114: Ultimate Corporate Drone Fantasy!

"Action!"

Clapperboard snapped shut.

Gina pounced like a cheetah. Her attacks were fierce, fists and kicks slicing through air. Pure, combat-level pressure.

Cassius perfectly replicated a coder's clumsiness and stubbornness.

His dodges were frantic. Blocking posture completely unorthodox. But he always managed to barely avoid critical hits at crucial moments, twisting his body in unnatural ways to absorb impact.

Their showdown unfolded in front of a massive green screen. Movements fluid, pacing tight. Muffled thuds of collision and heavy breathing echoed clearly across set.

Cassius was beaten back and knocked down over and over.

But every time, right on cue, he scrambled back up in a realistic, slightly comical way. Refusal to yield burned in his eyes.

Crew members watched with bated breath.

They knew it was choreographed, but that raw, authentic sense of combat hit hard.

Crucial moment hit!

Gina feinted a vicious right hook, forcing Cassius to raise his arms to block.

She instantly switched gears. Left leg whipped toward Cassius's ribs!

According to script, Cassius needed to instinctively trigger his power ring under extreme duress, projecting a translucent green energy shield in front of him!

Right as Gina's leg was about to connect with Cassius's rib padding.

Cassius's eyes suddenly went blank.

As if feeling genuine lethal threat, ring on his right ring finger seemed to faintly glow.

His whole body executed a highly coordinated, powerful half-step backward jump. Arms crossed in front of him in a defensive block.

This was physical prep for CGI shield to be added later.

Timing, range, force—even momentary blend of terror and absolute resolve on his face—were millisecond perfect!

Way better than his best rehearsal take!

"Cut!"

Director Martin shouted.

Set went dead silent for a second, followed by low murmurs of awe from crew.

Gina pulled her leg back, looking at Cassius in surprise.

That reaction was too natural!

That split-second timing felt like pure instinct forged through thousands of life-or-death brawls.

Not something an actor could fake after a few weeks of choreography training.

Cassius snapped out of character, glancing between Gina and director.

Martin didn't speak. Eyes glued to monitor playback.

He looped that crucial movement three times before grabbing walkie-talkie. "Excellent! Cass, Gina, emotion and action in that take were phenomenal! Especially you, Cass, timing on that backward jump block was flawless!"

"We'll keep that one, let's go again. Gina, aim that left leg sweep a fraction higher, give VFX team more room for shield!"

"Copy that, Director."

Gina replied, walking over to Cassius and dropping her voice. "How'd you do that just now? Better than any rehearsal run we did!"

Cassius rubbed his numb arm. Block was successful, but impact lingered.

He smiled. "Probably got beat up by you so much, my body just figured it out."

Gina rolled her eyes, but appreciation in her gaze deepened.

Rest of shoot went even smoother.

Cassius seemed to have flipped a switch.

Not only did he perfectly nail every choreographed move, but he also threw in tiny details during falls and recoveries that perfectly matched character's physical exhaustion and personality.

Like after one heavy throw, he stayed dazed for a second, then winced, bracing himself on ground and unconsciously muttering "Holy shit" before scrambling up.

That little detail cracked Martin up. Felt super authentic. He kept it in.

Several high-difficulty breakfalls and impacts originally slated for stunt double were handled personally by Cassius. Clean and crisp.

Wrap for day.

Action scenes scheduled for two days were mostly knocked out in one.

Insane efficiency!

At wrap, Martin was actually beaming. Walked right up to Cassius and Gina. "Cass, Gina, your performances today blew past my expectations!"

He clapped Cassius on shoulder. "Cass, your rate of improvement is startling. Keep this momentum!"

Cassius could sense Martin's favorability meter quietly ticking up from 87 to 89.

Gina unstrapped her padding, glancing at Cassius. "I actually believe you could fight in amateur bouts now. Your physical learning and adaptability are terrifying."

Action coordinator Dave trotted over, looking utterly baffled. "Cass, how the hell are you remembering these sequences?"

"Couple of those complex transitions take professional stuntmen days to nail. How long have you been at this? And you make it look even more authentic?"

Cassius gave a vague response. "Guess I'm just scared of pain, so muscle memory locks it in!"

Crew roared with laughter, writing it off as humble humor.

Back at his place that night, Cassius checked system panel.

One day of official shooting banked him over thirty experience points for [Body Language] attribute.

[Eyes], [Rhythm], and other stats saw minor bumps.

Cassius felt his physical control and utility hit a whole new level.

Those absorbed attribute orbs, tested through high-intensity practical shooting, fully integrated into his system.

Rob heard about smooth shoot and called immediately, hyped up. "Bro! We're locked in! Even Gina and Martin are looking at you differently!"

Action scene shooting hit its stride.

Cassius's status on set shifted noticeably thanks to his performance.

Kept pulling off moves that stunned director and action coordinator.

Chemistry with Gina smoothed out perfectly!

All thanks to various Jackie Chan and Stephen Chow action-comedies banked in his head.

Especially Jackie Chan's creative brawls, blending environmental props with comedic elements.

And Stephen Chow's signature slapstick style, fusing nonsense humor with physical gags, constantly flashed through his mind.

"Next up, we shoot protagonist getting chased by multiple training bots through chaotic Oa equipment warehouse."

Action coordinator called Cassius and Gina over to block scene.

He held a schematic for set blocking.

Wanted action to be thrilling while highlighting protagonist's beginner clumsiness and quick wit.

But his proposed concepts felt generic. Either too much like traditional parkour, or too goofy, losing tension.

Cassius stared at unrolled schematic, thinking it over. "Got an idea!"

Action coordinator and Martin both looked at him.

"Protagonist is a coder. Fast hands, but just started working on body coordination!"

Cassius gestured as he spoke. "While running, he gets cornered by a bot. Thinks he's dead meat, frantically shoves a storage rack to block it. Metal parts rain down everywhere, and he subconsciously uses ring energy to conjure up a frying pan or a keyboard!"

"He spikes falling parts at chasers like a volleyball, recoil knocking him flat on his ass. Parts smash into bots, short-circuiting them and causing smoke. Chaos breaks out, and he scrambles through a gap under rack to escape."

As he described it, he mimed frantic botched conjuring and comical recoil knockback.

Set went quiet for a few seconds.

"Pfft!"

Gina broke first, laughing out loud. "Frying pan and keyboard? Only you would come up with that!"

Martin rubbed his chin, eyes lighting up. "Interesting. Treat ring energy like a universal multi-tool, but rookie lacks control, conjuring what he's most familiar with. Creates accidental comedy while pushing escape forward..."

Dave slapped his thigh. "Exactly! Why didn't I think of that! Ring's imagination shouldn't just be badass weapons! This kind of mismatch and unpredictability is gold! Cass, what goes on in that head of yours?"

Cassius silently thanked Jackie Chan and Stephen Chow.

Jackie's trademark grabbing random objects as weapons to trigger chain reactions for escape, combined with Stephen Chow's deadpan absurdity, gave him inspiration.

His pitch offered humor that fit character and situation, not just cheap laughs.

Not only did it rationalize plot, it deepened audience immersion.

Dave and Cassius rapidly hashed out action details.

During shoot, Cassius perfectly conveyed shocked realization of wanting a shield but conjuring a frying pan, and messy recoil of swatting parts away with a keyboard.

Comedy factor maxed out!

Yet tension of escape didn't drop a bit!

"Cut!"

Martin immediately locked in that version. Way more memorable than original concept and fit character perfectly.

Cassius's involvement in action design kept growing!

Within choreographed framework, he constantly sprinkled in unique little quirks and reactions based on his own understanding.

Like when beaten dizzy, he'd instinctively reach into his pocket for his phone to call cops.

Or after getting slammed into next week, his first reaction upon standing was adjusting glasses that didn't exist.

These tiny details made character vibrant, fun, and grounded even while taking a beating, drastically deepening his layers.

Dave went from surprised, to impressed, to straight-up dragging Cassius into action design discussions constantly.

"Cass, what kind of chaotic element should we drop in here?"

"Besides running like a rat, is there a more 'coder' way to dodge here?"

Gina saw Cassius in a completely different light.

She told Martin privately, "Cassius is most inventive action actor I've ever worked with. He isn't just reciting moves; he's using combat to build character. Always bringing surprises."

[Gina Carano Favorability +2. Current Favorability: 72]

Martin was thrilled.

He needed a lead who could anchor action sequences while exuding unique charisma.

Cassius's performance blew his expectations out of water.

An actor who could pitch ideas, understand character, and execute flawlessly was a director's holy grail.

Martin's favorability locked solidly at 90.

He now viewed Cassius as a core creative partner!

Cassius reaped massive rewards himself.

Blending past-life inspiration with current shooting allowed him to master his Level 3 Body Language attribute, deepening his grasp on comedic rhythm and action design daily.

From Gina and other stunt performers, he continued farming high-quality attribute orbs.

Experience bar for [Body Language] marched steadily toward Level 4.

Action sequences took nearly a month to shoot.

Cassius felt like a semi-pro punching bag.

Martin announced on set, "Oa training base scenes are basically wrapped. We're transitioning to Earth shoots next. Cass, prep up. Tomorrow, we start your scenes with Keira!"
