The elevator doors slid shut behind them, sealing the two of them inside a space that suddenly felt much smaller than before.
Sheetal turned toward Rohit with a slow, hesitant smile. There was something almost challenging in it.
Rohit stepped closer, bracing one hand against the wall beside her. Their faces were inches apart.
"You know…" His voice dropped. "If I don't do anything now, I might regret it for the rest of my life."
Sheetal held his gaze. She didn't retreat, nor did she move closer.
"...Arya will hate us if she ever finds out."
Rohit smiled. He gently took her hands and draped them around his neck before moving closer.
"She doesn't need to know."
He lifted her chin with one finger.
"My only concern is whether you're willing."
Her eyes filled with tears again. For several seconds, she simply stared at him.
Then she nodded.
Rohit's expression softened. He brushed the tears from her cheeks with both thumbs.
