Chapter 423 - A Midnight Stroll

Dragon.

In Earthland, the word was synonymous with absolute, unrivaled power. It was a symbol of existence beyond human comprehension. But while Finn mostly agreed with that assessment, he also knew dragons weren't entirely omnipotent. After all, in this world, there didn't just exist Dragons; there were also Gods.

The mere fact that the five strongest entities on the continent of Guiltina were universally known as the "Five Dragon Gods" proved that the concept of a "God" held immense weight.

But what exactly made God such a special presence in Earthland?

In Finn's original world, particularly in Japanese mythology, there were said to be eight million gods—entities born from nature, human belief, and the desperate desire for peace. Their strength is directly connected to the sheer number of their worshippers.

Could he find a true God in this world?

They were surprisingly abundant. After all, alongside Dragon Slayer Magic, there was also God Slayer Magic. Finn recalled it being formally introduced during the Tenrou Island arc, when Natsu clashed with Zancrow, the Flame God Slayer.

However, mastering God Slayer Magic didn't automatically make someone invincible. The magic's effectiveness ultimately depended on the individual's talent and how they acquired the ability. Unlike Dragon Slayers, who required biological modifications (like Lacrima) or direct teachings from an actual dragon, God Slayers learned their abilities purely through ancient texts, tomes, or forgotten scrolls.

It was a highly academic, text-based Lost Magic. To gain such overwhelming destructive power without suffering the crippling side effects of Dragon Slayer Magic—like the debilitating weakness to moving vehicles—was incredibly attractive.

Yet, Finn also knew the truth about Fairy Tail. Gods weren't absolute beings here. In the canon storyline, gods like Ikusatsunagi (a colossal War God) were defeated by Natsu using his standard attack. Meanwhile, true Dragons possessed an innate, biological immunity that made them practically impervious to conventional magic, including God Slayer spells. They could only truly be harmed by Dragon Slayers.

"Well, it's all the same in the end," Finn muttered to himself.

Power was power. If someone's raw magical density was high enough, they could shatter any supposed "immunity." Just like how he had casually overpowered Meredy, Ultear, Flare, and Sorano simultaneously despite the supposed impossibility of it.

Still, as a collector of power, since he had already acquired Dragon Slayer Magic, he mentally added Devil Slayer Magic to his future shopping list.

Why hadn't he specifically hunted down the God Slayer Magic yet?

Because he didn't need to. He had already witnessed Orga of Sabertooth casting Lightning God Slayer Magic in the arena. Since it was a text-based, formulaic magic, Finn's Manager easily deciphered the spell structures in real-time, allowing him to effortlessly master it on the spot.

"There should be one more God Slayer here," Finn thought.

If his memory served him correctly, Sherria Blendy of Lamia Scale was the Sky God Slayer. He knew who she was, but he had purposefully avoided getting close to her. Not only was he incredibly busy, but Sherria was also simply too young.

Her older cousin, on the other hand, was an entirely different story.

"I'm going out to buy some real food. Do any of you want anything?" Finn called out.

He decided he had spent enough time over-analyzing magic systems for one night. It was time to actually enjoy the capital city. More importantly, when night fell, it offered him a rare, precious opportunity to walk around without his stifling mask.

"We're fine! Come back soon!" the girls chimed from the adjacent room.

Click.

Finn locked the heavy suite door behind him and stepped out into the vibrant, illuminated streets of Crocus.

"How long has it been since I was actually just... alone?" Finn wondered, exhaling a long breath.

Ever since his soul merged with his multiverse counterparts and the Manager booted up, he had been surrounded by chaos. It wasn't that he hated the rowdiness—he actually enjoyed having a presence around him—but sometimes, a man just needed an hour of peace. Or, more accurately, a moment where his lower half wasn't actively being fought over.

"It's been way too long," he said, smiling, slipping his hands into his pockets.

Finn wandered from tavern to tavern, sampling various high-end alcohols and local street foods, happily replenishing the calories he had burned during the day. He knew that the moment he returned to the hotel, the four women would inevitably gang up on him again.

To ensure his peaceful night remained peaceful, Finn had cast a subtle perception-filtering illusion over himself.

It was an absolute necessity. Thanks to the combined physical optimizations and aura refinements from his alternate multiverse selves, he had crossed the line from merely "handsome" into "a walking public hazard." Without the illusion, he would be fending off aggressive, drunken propositions at every corner. If he wasn't actively hiding his presence, women flocked to him like cats in heat, completely derailing any chance of a quiet stroll.

"Ah, this is nice," Finn sighed, taking a bite of a grilled skewer.

He briefly wondered if he should go visit Lisanna. He genuinely missed her. Unlike his intensely monitored, highly complicated relationships with Erza and Bisca, Lisanna was a breath of fresh air. She wasn't the primary protagonist, and she was tragically overlooked in the main storyline, which was a genuine shame considering how deeply sweet and beautiful she was.

"Hmm... her older sister is going to be a massive headache, though," Finn grimaced.

Elfman was easy to handle, but Mirajane possessed the protective instincts of a mother bear and the demonic powers to match. Finn decided it was safer to wait until the Grand Magic Games concluded to properly visit Lisanna, especially since he had used "endless Council paperwork" as his official excuse for being absent.

The quiet, cobblestone backstreets of Crocus were beautiful under the moonlight, offering a stark contrast to the roaring stadium earlier that day.

However, as Finn turned a quiet corner, his eyes caught a flash of silver hair.

Walking alone down the dimly lit street was a beautiful young woman. She was shivering slightly, dressed in shockingly skimpy clothes—nothing more than a thin tank top and shorts. Given the chilly evening air, it was a bizarre sight, but Finn knew exactly who she was and exactly why she was dressed like that.

She had just been violently humiliated, stripped, and excommunicated by Jiemma for losing her match against Kagura.

Finn paused in the shadows. With a flick of his wrist, his signature mask materialized over his face, snapping into place. He deactivated the perception filter and stepped out under the glow of a streetlamp.

"Yukino Agria?"

"Hmm?"

The girl flinched, spinning around with tear-stained eyes. She had never expected to hear her name called out in a dark alley, least of all by the man standing before her.

"Finn... of Heavenly Blue?!"
