In the canon story, Nagumo survived the abyss through pure, agonizing torture. He ate poisonous monster meat, his body violently broke down at the cellular level, and he had to chug the divine healing water (Ambrosia) to keep his organs from melting. It was a traumatic, horrific process that turned his hair white and broke his psyche.
Yet, Suzuki had to admit that his adventure in the abyss was like an RPG game player, who went to a grinding spot and monopolized it, as he took away their stats and skills with his snatch, becoming stronger and also raising his level even further, faster, and probably when he returned, his level would be the highest of all.
Still, would he follow Nagumo's path?
When he looked at the glowing rock and the toxic monster meat, he completely rejected the idea of following Nagumo's path. Eating raw, radioactive meat was dangerous; it was practically committing suicide, and relying on a finite puddle of healing water was simply a death wish.
Or rather, Nagumo probably wished to die, as living for him at that time was just too painful.
Yet—
"Can I snatch the trait of the Ambrosia?"
Ambrosia, the healing water that brought salvation to Nagumo's life, since without it, Nagumo would be dead, and it was impossible for him to be the main character in the story. Yet, Suzuki never thought of drinking it, since he was practically unscathed and completely unharmed as he walked on the abyss. The presence of concealment skills from his Assassin Job was just too overpowered, as nothing could detect him.
More importantly, as he used the "Snatch," it wasn't just his stats that were improved, but he had sets of passive and active skills stolen from dangerous monsters in the abyss, completely optimizing his Pencak Silat.
The first was Synapse Acceleration, stolen from Lightning Wolves.
Instead of shooting lightning from his hands like a mage, he used the stolen lightning magic internally. It passively fired his nervous system at supersonic speeds. To him, the rest of the world is moving in slow motion.
The second was the Subdermal Diamond Hide, stolen from the Basilisk.
He didn't grow scales. The density of his muscle fibers and skin had been fundamentally altered. If a sword hit his bare forearm, the sword would be chipped.
The third was the Invisible Gale Talons, stolen from the Claw Bears.
A major weakness of his was a lack of range. By stealing the Claw Bear's signature magic, every time he swung his dagger, a highly compressed, invisible blade of wind extended ten feet past the physical blade. He could decapitate monsters from across the room with a flick of his wrist.
What was even better?
Suzuki was completely invincible, so none of those monsters even realized where they were attacked, and then died, as their stats and skills were taken by him.
The fourth was Absolute Echolocation and Thermal Vision, stolen from Nocturnal Horrors.
He no longer needed light. He could "see" and "hear" the heartbeat, body heat, and spatial outline of every living thing in a one-mile radius, entirely through solid stone walls.
"It's so cheating..."
If Suzuki didn't know the plot, he wouldn't think too much, but since he did, he couldn't help but sigh, thinking about how lucky he was to have the "Merchant" as his job.
The Synergist might appear cool, as it allowed Nagumo to create various dangerous weapons, yet the Merchant?
As long as they made a transaction with him, they were under his mercy, especially if they didn't make a payment.
Still, before that, he looked around and used his Appraisal to search for what he wanted.
"Where is it?"
Suzuki looked around, using his Appraisal to the limit until he finally found what he wanted, hidden in the small cave that was out of most eyes' reach.
"If I didn't have this skill, I would miss it."
Was this thing prepared for Nagumo?
Yet Suzuki wouldn't rely on plot armor or a protagonist aura, which was ambiguous and only emerged during the crisis. If he could find the treasure when he was safe, and in the most absolute way, then why should he feel pain, right?
Some people might say that the pain would steel his willpower, making it even stronger, yet truthfully, did they really want to feel pain?
When their children or the next generation came, Suzuki could imagine that people didn't want the next generation to feel the same pain, yet sometimes, he also knew that pain was necessary.
However, for an orphan who had no support and could only rely on himself by studying and working till he passed away, and sacrificed his sleeping time to only two hours a day, he had been tormented enough, so he couldn't care if people thought that he didn't deserve the power because he didn't have enough pain.
The world was unfair, and if one couldn't accept it, then they changed their own reality.
And that is what he did, so when he found the God crystal dripping with Ambrosia, he didn't cup his hands to drink it. Instead, he placed his hand directly onto the colossal crystal itself and activated his skill at maximum output!
"Snatch!"
Suzuki didn't steal the liquid; he stole the concept of the crystal's divine generation.
Was he successful?
Naturally, he was, especially when the Manager helped him, and as he succeeded, he permanently integrated the God Crystal's localized immortality into his own biology.
It might seem hard to understand, but the best example would be like Ban the Undead from Nanatsu no Taizai; Suzuki was like that. He didn't just heal. It was impossible for him to die. If a monster managed to tear a chunk out of his shoulder, the flesh instantly knitted back together in a burst of steam before the blood even hit the floor. It completely removed the need for sleep, rest, or medical leave. He was perpetually at 100% operational capacity.
"It's great..."
Combine this with his second skill, the Subdermal Diamond Hide, stolen from the Basilisk; he was essentially an invincible, walking tank packed into a lean frame.
"Now, what should I do?"
With infinite stamina and instantaneous regeneration, the abyss ceased to be a threat. It became nothing more than his playground, where he could take everything away. He was like an alpha wolf meeting a group of docile sheep, or a powerful nation encountering a backward civilization with rich resources yet clueless about how to use them.
He had colonized the abyss itself!
Naturally, it would take all the resources (monsters) in the abyss, using them to grow stronger. Yet before that, he decided to open his penthouse, ready to wash his body clean, only to find that, instead of warm water and good, delicious food that awaited him to enjoy, Shizuku and Kaori were there, inside his penthouse, staring at him with teary eyes.
"....."
Suzuki was at a loss for a while, knowing that he was at fault for suddenly jumping, but even so, he greeted them lightly. "Yo."
"..." 2x
"YOU BASTARD!"
"I WILL PULL YOUR THING AWAY IF YOU DO IT AGAIN!"
"...no, don't do that."
Yet, despite how dirty he was, the two hugged him tightly, clung to him, crying, and didn't let him go.
"I am sorry."
Apologized. This is what he did. He knew that he was at fault for suddenly jumping without even giving them a warning.
Yet, if he told them, would they even agree to his plan?
"No, I won't forgive you."
"Me too."
"...what should I do for you two to forgive me?"
Suzuki was helpless. Yet, Shizuku and Kaori didn't answer him. The two just stared at him in silence. He wasn't stupid. He knew what they wanted, so he moved his head closer, as they had their usual three-person kiss, a lewd, deep one that would make any of those who knew them pass out due to how naughty the three had become.
"Hmn~!"
