Chapter 2 - chapter 2: Find myself in a man body

CRING! CRING! CRING!

The alarm clock erupted like a caffeinated jackhammer, slicing through the silence with the kind of sharp, metallic violence that should be illegal in a civilized society.

Suzumi jolted awake, her heart doing a frantic tap-dance against her ribs. She didn't just wake up; she performed a full-body reboot. She let out a yawn so deep it threatened to swallow her own head, stretching her back until her spine sounded like a bag of microwave popcorn. With a final, satisfying crack of her knuckles, she finally awake.

BAM!

She bang on the clock with the force of a professional wrestler, silencing the mechanical beast.

"It's only 3:00 PM?" she croaked, squinting at the numbers as if they were personally offending her.

She had been asleep for less than an hour, but she felt like she'd been hit by a freight train filled with more freight trains. Her "power nap" had provided zero power and approximately 100% more grumpiness. Realizing her nap was a total scam, she slumped back, a low groan escaping her throat.

As the fog of sleep cleared, a bizarre sensation washed over Suzumi—like her body had been swapped out for a different model while she was downloading a dream.

"Wait... why do my hands look like they belong to a lumberjack?" she whispered, her voice trembling with a cringe-induced horror. Her fingers were thick, her grip felt like iron, and her skin was suddenly... forested. "Why are there hairs here?! Is this a side effect of the noodles?!"

She scrambled to her feet, shoving the chair back with such force it nearly hit the wall. As she straightened her knees, her perspective of the room shifted. Suddenly, she wasn't just looking at the window—she was looking down at the latch.

"Hey! HEY! HEY!" she panicked, her thoughts racing at a hundred miles per hour. "Since when did the ceiling get so low? Did the house shrink? Did I hit a late-onset growth spurt in my sleep?"

For a fleeting, delusional second, a spark of joy hit her. Well, being tall is actually kind of a blessing, she thought. Maybe God finally listened to the 'make my life better' part.

She turned to march toward her full-length mirror, ready to embrace her new supermodel height. But halfway there, she felt a terrifying lightness. As she walked, there was no familiar weight, no rhythmic bounce—just a vast, flat void where her chest used to be.

She froze. Her face twisted into a mask of pure, existential dread. Slowly, like a character in a horror movie, she tilted her neck down to look at herself.

"NOOOOOOOO!"

A scream ripped from her throat, raw and tearful. The "scenic hills" of her anatomy had been leveled into a barren, muscular plain. Her breasts—her proud, healthy breasts—had vanished into thin air, replaced by a solid, hairy wall of thorns.

Suzumi collapsed to her knees, clutching her flat chest with the dramatic flair of a fallen opera singer. "Where did you go?!" she wailed, her hands frantically grasping at the empty air where her curves used to be. "Who stole you?! Was it a ghost? A thief? Give them back!" She looked like she was trying to perform CPR on an invisible person, her fingers squeezing nothing but disappointment.

Suddenly, she snapped out of her grief with a face full of frantic determination. She lunged toward the full-length mirror hanging on her wall, moving with a speed of an athlete.

She gripped the edges of the mirror frame so hard her knuckles turned white. Her neck was bent low, and her eyes were squeezed shut as if she were facing a firing squad. Okay, Suzumi. On three. One... two... With a final surge of terrifying courage, she tilted her head up and forced her eyes open.

"BOOOOOOOM!"

A scream erupted from her room that sounded like a jet engine exploding in a library. It was a sound so sharp and loud that the windows rattled in their frames, and every bird within a three-block radius took flight in a panicked cloud of feathers.

Suzumi stared into the glass, her eyes wide, glassy, and completely "dead inside."

"What... what is this monster?" she croaked. Her fingers drifted upward, trembling as they touched a jawline that could cut glass. Instead of her soft skin, she felt the scratchy, sandpaper texture of a fresh beard. Instead of her long, lustrous hair that she spent a fortune on maintaining, her fingers met a short, spiky mop of masculine hair.

She wasn't just in a man's body. She was in a manly man's body. The blunt, man-hating reporter had become the very thing she used as a dartboard for her resentment.

Then, she felt it. A strange, heavy presence inside her pants that definitely wasn't there an hour ago. It was a visible, undeniable bulge that made her stomach do a somersault of pure dread.

"No... no, no, no. This is not happening," she whimpered. With fingers that shook like autumn leaves, she tentatively pulled back the waistband of her pants.

The world stopped. All hell broke loose in her mind.

Every trace of her female anatomy was gone. In its place was the cold, hard evidence that she had been biologically overhauled. She wasn't just wearing a costume; she was a full-fledged, functional man. The reality hit her like a thousand-volt current surging through her spine, locking her joints and freezing the air in her lungs.

"Am I... a man?" she whispered, the words sounding alien in a voice that was suddenly deep and resonant.

THUD!

The bedroom door burst open, slamming against the wall with a violence that jolted her right out of her existential crisis.

"Amara! Why are you screaming like a dying cat?!"

A tall, authoritative woman stood in the doorway, her eyes flashing with irritation. Suzumi stared, her brain short-circuiting.

Who is this lady? And why is she calling me Amara? A logical spark flickered in her mind: if she was in this man's body, this woman must be his—no, her—new mother.

"Why are you staring at me like a statue? Answer me!" the woman barked, crossing her arms as she stepped into the room. "Standing there looking unhinged... answer me, you stupid boy!"

Suzumi's reporter instincts kicked in through the panic. I have no idea what's happening, but if I don't say something, this woman is going to blow a fuse. Cooperate now, freak out later.

She forced the tension out of her face, plastering on a fake, nervous smile. She reached up, scratching the back of her short, spiky hair.

"Ah... it's nothing, Mom," she whispered, her new voice vibrating in her chest. "I just... slipped off my chair. Total accident."

"Oh, is that all?!" the woman practically shrieked, leaning so close that Suzumi could see the fiery glint of a grudge in her eyes. "I told you half an hour ago to get noodles from the market! Did that brain of yours finally evaporate?"

She stared Suzumi down, her gaze radiating a level of pure, unadulterated threat. It wasn't just a question; it was a demand for her soul.

Good grief, this woman is terrifying, Suzumi thought, her internal reporter voice trembling. She makes my old mom look like a pacifist.

"Okay, okay! I'm going! Just... please, calm down!" Suzumi stammered, raising her large, unfamiliar hands in a defensive gesture.

She snatched a shopping bag and beat a hasty retreat, stepping out into the sunlight. As she walked down the street, the world felt like a distorted mirror. It looked like her city, yet everything was subtly... off. The architecture was strange, the technology looked unfamiliar, and the very air felt charged with a different energy.

It was a new world, a new body, and—most disturbingly—an entirely new set of hardware running her emotions.

As she passed a local beauty parlor, a group of girls stepped out, laughing and adjusting their hair. In her past life, Suzumi would have just ignored them or made a blunt mental note about their fashion choices. But now?

A sudden, violent jolt of attraction slammed into her. It wasn't just a "nice to look at" feeling; it was an intense, magnetic pull that vibrated through her entire masculine frame. Her heart, now much larger and more powerful, thundered in her chest.

Wait, stop! she screamed internally, her face flushing a deep crimson. I'm a girl! I'm a straight girl who hates men! Why am I looking at them like a hungry wolf?!

The biological instincts of her new body were fighting her soul's common sense, and it was a battle she was currently losing.

Wait, is this real?!" Suzumi's internal monologue was screaming in a higher pitch than her new vocal cords could ever reach. "Am I actually... attracted to them? Oh god, stop it! Why are they so beautiful? Why is the lighting hitting her hair like that?! I can't look away!"

She felt like a glitching computer. "Wait, wait, wait! Am I really behaving like a walking ball of enraged hormones? Is this what it's like? Is this the 'male gaze' everyone talks about? It's like a magnetic force field!"

"Hey!"

One of the girls snapped her fingers, the sharp sound cutting through Suzumi's daze like a gunshot. The girl's eyes were narrowed in disgust. "What are you doing? Why are you staring us down like a total pervert?"

Suzumi's brain did a frantic backflip. She had spent her whole life as a girl being annoyed by creepy guys, and now she was the creepy guy. Panic flared in her chest.

"No! No! You've got it all wrong!" she stammered, her deep voice cracking. "I wasn't looking at you! I was... I was reading the poster! The one behind you! About the... uh... skin cream!"

The girl didn't look convinced. In fact, she looked even more repulsed. She raised a judgmental finger and pointed directly at Suzumi's waistline. "Oh, really? Then perhaps you'd like to explain that little situation down there?"

Suzumi followed the finger with her gaze and felt her soul leave her body.

There, in broad daylight, her newly acquired manhood was standing in absolute, undeniable glory. It was a betrayal of the highest order. Her mind was screaming disgust, but her biology was shouting standing ovation.

So this is how the male body works, she whispered to herself, swallowing a thick lump of pure, unadulterated terror. It's not a body; it's a traitorous biological weapon with a mind of its own.
