The kitchen went silent as he heard nothing but sobbing noises coming out from the other side of the phone.
At some point in time during his call, Woolie had stopped eating; Rose had gone completely still while Neva's six eyes went wide, but not with horror, but something else. Something colder.
Raiden's face was blank.
Too blank.
"Iris," he said, his voice very quiet now. "Tell me, when did it happen, and where are you right now? Can you please share your current location with me?!"
"I-I'm still at the ice cream parlour. The police came, but they said they'd need time to investigate, and I didn't know what else to do, so I called you because Sylvia always said if anything ever happened, I should call you, and—"
"Stay there. Don't move. Don't talk to anyone else. Also, call your teacher, Yuna. I'm on my way!!"
He hung up before she could respond.
The kitchen was filled with tension as he hung up the call.
Woolie was the first to move.
