Chapter 8 - Sleep well

The rest of the school day passed in a blur even though the tension from earlier still lingered in the air classes felt strangely quiet Jungkook didn't try anything else no comments no lingering stares meant to intimidate he stayed in the back of the room tapping his pencil against the desk in that slow, rhythmic way that always made my stomach twist Taehyung stayed beside me never leaving my side like we've known each other for years

When the final bell rang, students rushed out like they'd been waiting all day to escape. Eun‑ji slung her bag over her shoulder and walked with us toward the front of the school, still buzzing with leftover adrenaline she sighed

"I swear," she said, "if Jungkook shows up again, I'm throwing my shoe at him." Taehyung actually laughed a low warm sound that made my heart flutter. "I'd pay to see that." he said

Eun‑ji gasped dramatically. "See? He likes me. We're bonding." I rolled my eyes, but I couldn't help smiling. The three of us waited near the front steps for Minsu, who finally appeared with his backpack in his hand and his uniform all wrinkled

"Noona!" he called, jogging over. "Can we please get snacks on the way home?"

"Maybe," I said. "Depends on how fast you walk."

He grinned, then looked up at Taehyung. "your coming back with us right hyung?" I cooed at the sudden honorifics

Taehyung nodded once a grin on his face "If that's okay."

Minsu smiled. "Awesome"

Eun‑ji sighed dramatically. "I guess this is where I leave you two lovebirds."

"Eun‑ji," I groaned. she winked. "Call me later. I want every detail." she teased

Taehyung raised an eyebrow. "Every detail?"

Eun‑ji smirked. "Every. Single. One."

I shoved her lightly, and she laughed before heading off toward her bus stop. Once she was gone, the three of us started walking home. The afternoon sun was warm, the breeze soft, and for the first time all day, the tension in my chest loosened. Taehyung walked beside me his hands in his pockets, posture relaxed we stopped at a nearby convenience store grabbing snacks I made sure to get something for nina before we paid and left

Minsu talked the whole way home about school, about a game he wanted, about how his teacher gave him extra homework for talking too much. Taehyung listened quietly occasionally offering a comment that made Minsu grin It was strange how easily he fit into the rhythm of our little family he'd been walking home with us for years instead of just one day.

When we reached the house Minsu kicked off his shoes and ran straight to the kitchen bags in his hands I greeted the nanny who told me nina was upstairs for a nap Taehyung stepped in behind me closing the door gently he looked around the house with that same quiet curiosity he'd had that morning just taking everything in.The nanny left as I went back to the kitchen to join the boys "I'm starving!" he whined

"You're always starving," I said, laughing as I followed him to the kitchen

"Make yourself comfortable," I said. "I'll heat something up." We ended up eating leftover fried rice and dumplings, sitting around the table while Minsu told Taehyung about his favorite video games Taehyung listened with surprising interest nodding along asking questions even offering a few tips that made Minsu's eyes widen like he'd just met a superhero. After lunch Minsu ran off to his room leaving the house quiet again I turned to Taehyung.

"Do you... want to see my room?" I asked.

His eyes softened. "Yeah. I'd like that."

I led him upstairs down the hallway, suddenly hyper‑aware of everything the way my heart sped up the way my palms felt warm the way his footsteps were steady behind me When I opened my door he stepped inside slowly looking around with a small almost amused smile.

"It's very you," he said.

I raised an eyebrow. "What does that mean?"

He shrugged lightly. "Warm? Organized —Comfortable."

My cheeks warmed. "Thanks... I think."

He walked over to my bookshelf scanning the titles then looked at the photos on my wall me with my siblings me and Eun‑ji a few drawings Nina had made for me. He didn't touch anything he just observed like he was trying to understand me through the pieces of my life.

"Want to watch a movie?" I asked, needing something to do with my hands.

Taehyung nodded. "Sure." We went back downstairs and sat on the couch leaning against the pillows while I scrolled through the options. He didn't seem picky so I picked something light something comforting. Halfway through the movie I felt myself relaxing completely the stress of the day melting away.

Taehyung sat beside me, one arm resting behind me on the pillow, his posture relaxed but still somehow protective. every now and then he'd glance at me not in a way that made me nervous but in a way that made my heart flutter at some point without even realizing it I leaned into him his shoulder was warm he didn't move away he just shifted slightly so I could rest more comfortably against him.

His arm slipped around me slow, gentle, deliberate and I felt my breath catch I wanted this moment to last forever and to think we met only two days ago was crazy to me it was a connection like soul ties..like love at first sight? I yawned covering my mouth then resting it right between me and Taehyung

I didn't even notice when my eyes started to close. The movie played softly in the background the room was dim and quiet and Taehyung's gentle heartbeat was steady beneath my cheek the last thing I felt before sleep was was his hand brushing lightly against my arm slow and soothing

And the last thing I heard was his voice, low and soft, barely above a whisper.

"Sleep well, Y/n." I hummed and I did curled against him wrapped in warmth I didn't know I needed I fell asleep in Taehyung's arms feeling his warm embrace I held him tightly as I slept peacefully.
