Kai watched the dried Demon blood mix with his own, running down from his skin and swirling around the base of the shower like spider lilies.
He appreciated that Uri would heal him when he injured himself, but he didn't care for the moments after; when the warmth of that gold light pushed aside the numbing sensation in his mind and body, giving way to sharp edges and the dull, quiet whispering in his head.
"No one would even care if you were gone. You could have just let that Demon slice your throat open and no one would mourn it."
When he kissed him it grew quiet again, but he couldn't do that forever. The aesthetics alone would ruin the careful reputation he had built - the one that kept them all away from him, even as Uri's presence drew them in.
And really, he shouldn't take another one yet - he'd already taken four today.
But Gods, did that damned Spectre need to shut the fuck up.
