Ismael was not about to let her take him down like that, and in extremis dodged the shot by a few inches, last second.
"I'm in great shape."
He then shot at the perfect angle with just his gun to the window, but she had already taken cover and headed back to the stairs as he left for the school, a place he remembered.
"It's not a matter of being found or not, she will find me, but she won't manage to kill me. If I trap the entire area and then leave, she'll be forced to make way and sense through all that mess. Genova has lost her mind a long time ago, and one day I'll have to kill her for good. But I'll also have to face my own sins. It looks like I messed up back at Perseus. After that ritual nothing comes to mine, pure black hole. It is in my right to do what I did regardless, I was tired of the entire population to rely on me to move forward. I'm not a leader that people can just push to the slaughterhouse so I can move the saws a bit further so they can pass. When it's me it's the correct way to pass obstacles, a walking breathing living meat shield. Ever since the Killing of Nara. And when it's them, it's a sin, it's a horrible twist of fate and I'm the sole reponsable to blame for, and I should die for their sake. These people are outrageously awful, their hypocrisy are written all over them but they are blind. I hate them not for who they are but because they are using me to win in life. Your obstacles are YOUR obstacles. The Helios thing is where I drew the line. I'm done. And I'm also done with Genova."
A good thirty minutes was all it took for Ismael to set up the entire school as one gigantic trap. When Genova entered, she felt the aura that Ismael left like a strong smell of victory within the hallways. The presence cannot be ignored, he is here.
Genova attentively stared at each corner, knowing full well Ismael had somehow reverted to fighting like in Cressenie.
The furniture for kids to sit on, the chairs, the couches, all swept up and turned upside down to hide incomprehensible machineries inside. The entire school flipped upside down from within.
But because it was too obvious, it was also impossible to detect where to walk and where not to step on.
She took a risk and her right leg got shot after walking on a motion detection device range.
The sudden damage made her move faster and in a careless manner, setting on a bunch of new traps.
Genova came out bleeding, but the gaze went straight to Ismael when she saw him on the bench.
"Should we talk?"
"You're the one who started this, and this whole time, I just wanted to save you from your own damn self. I see now, you can't save that. You can't fix the broken that doesn't want to be fixed. You are a despicable creature, and you need to be killed off. But before I start mangling you raw, I'll tell you what happened at Perseus. So you may hate yourself as much as I hate you now."
"If it is to tell me that I've killed a few people, I think I did this before."
"A perfect run. You had a perfect run. You successfully manipulated every single person out there, making false plans with them and turning them against each others, so that at the last second, upon dying, they would never be able to know that it was you. Not just a calculating psychopath, but a psychopath that carries no emotion, doesn't die and kills every single target without any remorse nor regret. A cold blooded killer thta wins regardless."
"Good to know I won."
"You didn't. Despite the perfect run, Grid and Influenza had a pact with Konstantin, they could hide for as long as they wished and never be attacked by the Lunatics. Funny thing is, they kept trying to get you killed, and you never noticed. They eventually almost succeeded. Later on, Esia, the strongest Lunatic, killed our friends hundreds of thousands of times, even paikted the entire structure, inside and outside, with their blood. Amphelise never was targeted because she managed to remain completely neutral inside, she became emptiness inside. We found out that Nara, the leader of thr Nephilims, was the last Lunatic, and that he did this to inflitrate them. He suspected Kanna of being possessed by Mars himself, his rival. But he was neither right nor wrong, Kanna was holdikg him captive inside of her body, making her look like that. He launched an offensive against all of us and we managed to kill him. You then proposed the idea of assuming the position of the leader."
"Did I get it?"
"Yes. Again, you did it. The Bringer relayed the information to the Nephilim's domain. During his short asbence, you took the last lives of June, Raven and Influenza. They screamed and screamed and at the end, the ghost girl, Maia, had an unseen fight with Karin. They both died. Awane remained silent as she was begging Anaïs, depressed by the exhaustion, to redo the circle. She had cleaned off the blood to let the circle do its' thing, but it wasn't working anymore, and the witch was even more unstable this time around and killed Awane. As long as the circle remains shattered, they cannot come back."
"Good. Enemies down. Thr mission is complete."
"Yeah, mission complete, soldier. Esia murdered every Nephilim, including Grid and the Bringer. She ended them really easily. Melisa and Theigon are still alive. Ashnael managed to cross over to Cressenie. Just like Helios and Cankt. Soon, all Lunatics will be here to end your life, and there is absolutely nowhere you can run to."
