Agony expressed her resentement towrds Nara, an irepressible defiance that kept her on edge.
"Whatever you really do all of this for, it should go without saying, it's immoral and ungodly."
"And? You think I don't know that? What were you doing out there? Helios sure committed some atrocities, but he had at the very least a palmarès of interesting accomplishments. You have nothing. You reek of sloth. When he is making a choice, you don't support him, and when he wants to relax for a while, you complain. You are the nagging wife us men were warned about."
"Really...because you can, you think you should?"
"Yes. Absolutely. I could use the same argument. I could, why shouldn't I?"
"It will just cause more pain."
"Unfortunately for you, lady, this is the reality. You expect so much of life...truth is, only outside of your comfort zone will you ever grow. And pain in a comfort zone is an instant nullifier of growth. You need to bleed far away from home to bring your manhood to completion. And this is what I do, I make humans grow, I am the water of life he needed to be better, taller. To become who he is supposed to be. But you, you are the cloud blocking the sun. The insect stealing the water from the plant. The pesticide on the dirt."
"Damn Nephilims. I just want him to be a man!"
"You're a woman. You don't know jackshit about how to be a man. I'm not telling you how to be a proper woman, now, am I? Take ahold of yourself. Helios means sun. He grows naturally, among all specimens he will be the best one. But there is an experiment to be made here. You two could have a son. Here, he will never lack anything and he will always be "happy". Until he becomes a man."
"You don't get to decide that."
"I absolutely do. Look at him. Already training. Already shining. Of course he is. Don't you dare take that away from him and let him have a proper son."
"I refuse."
"What a shame. We could have had so much fun with a new character."
"How can you see this whole thing as a game?"
"Not a game, Agora. A proper play. Something to watch and enjoy."
"So you want to be entertained. Nothing else?"
"Finally getting it, huh?"
"I do. But to actually make it true?"
"What else do you want me to do? Sit back and look at the sky? I'm not dead inside. I have the chance to create a legendary performance, and I will."
"So, a son..."
"Yes! We send him to Earth first. You two will leave Perseus and start a new life in a new place. You'll come back here if need be. We'll see."
"Fine. We'll talk about it."
"You will. And remember there are no underlying sadistic prerogatives as to why I do what I do. I exist and live for this. Without any hardships, the viewership would drop, and I am the viewership."
"I get it."
They remained at the Temple, had a kid. Agony had the vision once again of the name Ismael and gave the name to the kid. Hundreds of angel-like females helped Agony with the natural development of he child.
"It's time, Agony. It's been a few years."
"Yèti. Volucina tova."
"Earth isn't all that bad all around, Agony. Be happy that he was not abandoned."
"You're afraid. The great Nara. All this time, I could sense you had a latent, silent but deadly feeling of dread."
"I don't think we'll see each other again, so I'll tell you. At the beginning, us Nephilims had a perfect life. We noticed one day an existence that shouldn't be, Mars. And all of our forces were used to limit his path as well as the Legion's. We did. We "permanently" ceased their advance. Recently, we witnessed an obstacle, their Legion is growing and we cannot stop their progression anymore, we're pretty much doomed to fight. It isn't for now, so remain calm."
"Mars, huh? Leave me in Perseus, Nara. Leave me here until I deserve to see my son again."
"I wasn't expecting this from you."
"I have the feeling this is the kind of war we're all a part of, alive or not. Men or women."
"Very mature of you. Ismael would be proud of you."
"Smerken? Ito ekvaélis."
"Don't. He'll be proud of you. I know it."
Years passed and Ismael grew up with his classmates at Cressenie. One day, wandering aimlessely but with serenity, was met with a terrifying entity, a witch, by the name of Anaïs.
"What an obscure sensation. The white eyes are not dead or empty, they're full of life, but also thirsty for something. Some sort of eternal aspect of destruction. A twisted view of destruction."
"Well, who do we have here? Do you have a name?"
"I go by Agony."
"Oh...that's uncommon. What if I had a deal to propose to you?"
"What kind?"
"The kind where you make of Perseus your bed but become a witch, just like me."
"A witch, are you kidding?"
"No, I am not."
Agony's right arm was in her left hand. And by the time she understood what was going on, she resigned.
"Yael and Emova need to die so I can have two other witches that are NOT completely useless."
"What will I do, then?"
"You will kill. You will become the witch of unity. Of all witches I am by far the strongest and the most remarkable one, but Emova also has a lot of experience. And Yael is dangerously unpredictable. As long as there will be more than three witches, the balance will be broken, unstable. While I am not here with you, I'll need you to take care of them as you can. Yael lies in an in-between state around Earth, but Emova is here, not that far. For as long as you can, you'll have to try and push her deeper and deeper into submission."
"I accept. I have to. I have to stay alive for as long as possible. Then I will finally see my family again."
The barriers with their conditions appeared later, and Agony was blocked away from the other side to ever see Helios again. Somewhere inside she knew he was not too far.
Today, Helios stands a few miles from her, trapped in the cave where Anaïs the witch sends numerous people, numerous times, to kill him while their son traps her into Garden White.
Behind the Structure, behind even the school, the remaining pieces of the puzzle perfectly fell into place, as John, Kenza, Awane, Grant and Karin fought the two witches.
This Hunting Season was the most entertaining one for Nara.
