Chapter 68 - Chapter 68: Extreme Operations

"Good kid—nicely done!"

Tsunade, who had just arrived, also saw the scene of Gojo Yoru nearly instant-killing three Rain ninja.

It was also her first time seeing Flying Thunder God used in real combat, and she finally understood why, despite Second Grandpa inventing so many jutsu, Flying Thunder God alone had the greatest fame—and why his titles were tied to Flying Thunder God and Water Release.

Long-range and close-range teleportation, teleporting people and objects, even planting a Flying Thunder God formula on an enemy and swapping them with a Flying Thunder God kunai… Flying Thunder God's applications were practically all-purpose.

After praising Yoru, Tsunade suddenly leapt into the air and slammed a high axe-kick down.

BOOM! The ground caved under her heel, revealing an opening leading underground.

By the time the dust cleared, Tsunade had already entered the underground base.

Shhk—

At the same moment, Yoru swung the Sword of the Thunder God and took the sealed Rain ninja's life.

He didn't bother searching the body for antidote. Instead, he became a black afterimage and chased the remaining three sensor-type Rain ninja.

"The intruder's chakra position is shifting back and forth. This isn't a Body Flicker movement trajectory—it's closer to a Summoning Jutsu-like relocation… This is a space–time movement method. Preliminary identification: Flying Thunder God, recorded in the databanks."

"The enemy is very likely a Konoha ninja. Don't fight him. It's meaningless."

"Split up and run—make noise!"

Yoru's killing of four Rain ninja happened in an extremely short span.

Even so, the remaining three Rain ninja, relying on their accumulated knowledge and communicator coordination, quickly identified Yoru's identity and the jutsu he used to erase their comrades.

Without hesitation, they burst out of their disguises and prepared to scatter out of the bamboo grove.

Perhaps because of different duties—or perhaps because they forgot in the rush—none of the three carried signal flares.

So they pulled out explosive tags and detonated them inside the grove.

Rumble, rumble…

A chain of explosions certainly made a huge commotion—whether the tower noticed was another matter.

"Anyone who's allowed to wear a flak vest really isn't simple," Yoru sighed.

With that level of decisiveness, even his speed couldn't stop them from creating noise.

Amegakure really was worthy of its reputation as an assassination-focused village—each of them cautious to the bone.

Even though they succeeded in making a disturbance, Yoru still had to kill them.

Those three sensor ninja had already identified his movement method. Even if they didn't know Flying Thunder God by name, once they reported to Hanzō, he would absolutely figure it out.

If Hanzō learned it, it was the same as all of Amegakure—no, all of the shinobi world—learning it.

And then Yoru wouldn't be able to rely on information advantage to instant-kill people like he just did.

So Yoru put away the Sword of the Thunder God, drew his chakra blade from his storage scroll, and combined intangibility with Earth Body Flicker—becoming the shinobi world's most terrifying assassin.

"Gone!"

At the same time, the three Rain ninja—Body Flickering while using sensing—felt that the intruder's chakra had vanished.

A bad premonition immediately rose in their hearts.

A few seconds later, two of them suddenly changed expression.

Just as they were about to escape the bamboo grove, they saw two figures burst from the ground ahead and charge toward them.

Suspecting the enemy had Flying Thunder God, their instinct was to avoid fighting.

Then the hopeless scene unfolded.

Those two figures suddenly accelerated, producing a shrill tearing sound.

Their movement speed was above the Rain ninja's.

Realizing they couldn't outrun the pursuit, the Rain ninja finally stopped running: one drew a blade, the other formed seals to cast a jutsu.

Elsewhere in the grove, the last Rain ninja sensed his teammates had been targeted and instinctively wanted to go help.

But reason told him not to—he needed to find reinforcements as fast as possible.

So he sprinted at full speed toward the edge of the bamboo grove.

Soon his view opened up—he'd successfully escaped the terrifying grove.

He subconsciously let out a breath of relief, failing to notice a rain-soaked pebble on the ground ahead, carved with a tomato pattern and the character "夜."

In the next second, the Rain ninja—eyes showing a hint of relief—suddenly froze in place.

Black lines slowly filled his vision, and the world seemed to turn into a full-length mirror shattering into pieces.

A white-haired, black-clad figure had appeared in front of him at some point, back turned, calmly sheathing his blade.

Click.

As the last inch of steel slid into the sheath, the Rain ninja followed his comrades' path—his body splitting into more than ten chunks of flesh that dropped to the ground.

The entire process produced not even a single scream.

The only difference was that he died to Gojo Yoru's Dimensional Slash—and Yoru had shown restraint, not turning him into hundreds of minced pieces.

Yoru kicked the Flying Thunder God pebble toward the corpse pile and vanished again.

Bang! Bang!

Meanwhile, the other two Rain ninja's attacks both struck the "Yoru" charging at them.

He didn't dodge—he let the sword and jutsu hit him.

Then both "Yorus" turned into white smoke.

"Shadow clones?"

With no sensory barrier, and without forming seals to actively sense, the two Rain ninja couldn't distinguish real from fake.

And seeing it was "just" shadow clones made them relax—instinctively.

That relaxation doomed them the same way as their other teammate.

"—"

Without any sound, the white smoke and the jutsu that was about to blow it away suddenly split along a black line, separating to the left and right.

At the same time, that black line expanded in each Rain ninja's vision.

When the line vanished, their sight tilted sideways and darkness swallowed them.

If they had been facing each other, they would have seen each other's bodies cut neatly in half, the cut surfaces smooth and straight.

When the smoke cleared, a Flying Thunder God-marked kunai was left at the spot where each shadow clone had been.

Clearly, since shadow clones couldn't use Flying Thunder God, their only role was to bring Flying Thunder God kunai right up to the Rain ninja.

"Hah…"

After finally killing the last Rain ninja, Yoru exhaled heavily.

Feeling that he had about 15% of his space–time chakra left, he murmured, "Without unsealing the Strength of a Hundred Seal, this is probably my limit."

"Intangibility + Earth Body Flicker + Flying Thunder God + Dimensional Slash… the combo is as dirty as I imagined," Yoru sighed lightly. "But… compared to this kind of schemer's 'max efficiency' play, I'd rather crush everything with raw power."
