Chapter 2 - Sad Soul

{ROSE LAN VALLEY}

The Black Rose Sect stands as a testament to supreme craftsmanship and cultivation prowess. The entire sect compound is carved directly into mountain rock, its halls and pavilions seamlessly integrated with the natural stone formations. Ancient techniques blend mortal ingenuity with Master methods, creating structures that appear grown rather than built.

Water cascades from above through ingenious channels cut into the rockface, forming curtains of mist.

Above the mountain peak floats an island - the sect's supreme inheritance ground. This floating landmass defies heaven's laws, suspended by ancient formation and the accumulated sect fortunes of countless generations. Only core disciples and elders may ascend to this forbidden zone,where the sect's most precious ji beast are nurtured.

The black roses that give the sect its name grow wild throughout the valley,

Rose Path cultivation. Each petal holds death; each thorn, opportunity. In this harsh environment, only the ruthless prosper, cultivating both beauty and lethality in equal measure.

"Like the black rose - beautiful enough to draw eyes, deadly enough to end lives."

The dim lanterns of the Jade restaurant swayed gently in the evening breeze, casting flickering shadows across the worn wooden tables laden with steaming bowls of noodles and fragrant dumplings. Amidst the clamor of chopsticks clinking and patrons murmuring in low tones, the door creaked open with a drunken shove.

"Hic—!" A soft, melodic belch escaped her lips as the elf woman stumbled in, her white robes flowing like mist over snow, yet stained with the faint red of spilled wine. Her pointed ears peeked from beneath disheveled silver hair, and her blue-green eyes, glazed with intoxication, scanned the room with a hazy urgency.

"My love—hic!—you promised etern..."

She weaved through the tables, knocking over a teacup here, eliciting a sharp curse from a burly merchant there. The air was thick with the scent of garlic and soy, but to her, it was all a blur, a veil over the past that refused to lift. And then, her gaze locked onto him—seated alone in the corner, a figure as still as a statue carved from ice."Tris!"

No,not Tris To her drunken mind, it was him—her beloved, lost to the cruel blade of fate.The face was the same: sharp jawline, high cheekbones, eye as cold as Ice. "It's you! My heart—hic!—you!" she exclaimed, her voice a slurry of elven lilt and slurred passion, drawing curious stares from the other diners.

She collapsed into the seat opposite him, her robes pooling around her like forgotten clouds."Darling, speak to me! Why so silent? Have the gods cursed us again—hic!?" Her slender hand reached out, trembling, to grasp his sleeve, but he did not flinch.

Zu Ren sat there, expressionless, his cold gaze piercing through her like a pray. He knew nothing of this woman. She was a stranger. Internally,Zu Ren face remained a mask of indifference, lips sealed, body unmoving. He observed her every twitch, every desperate plea, as one might study an insect under glass–intriguing, perhaps, but ultimately irrelevant.

"Please...Tris—my love—hic!—talk with me!

"Don't Leave me again!"."Don't you remember our vows under the mother tree?"She try leaned closer, her breath reeking of fermented berries, tears welling in her eyes."Talk to me! Say something...!"

Silence answered her, profound and unyielding. Zu Ren's mind whirred with dispassionate analysis.

The restaurant's murmurs grew, but Zu Ren's cold eyes never wavered, watching the elf woman's futile struggle against the ghosts of her own making.
