The first useful result came from Orison the following morning.
Oren had spent most of the night examining the Meridian Frontier Development Trust's investments.
By the time he contacted Aurelian, he had identified eleven recovery companies that had received money from the organization.
Five were still operating around Orison, three had closed or changed ownership, and the remaining three were registered in smaller settlements beyond the main recovery routes.
That was a much larger network than Aurelian had expected.
"Are they all connected to Dane?" he asked, studying the list.
"No, at least not from what I've found," Oren replied, shaking his head.
"Most appear to be ordinary businesses, and several have operated for years without any complaints."
"Then don't interfere with their work."
"I wasn't planning to."
Aurelian gave him a doubtful look, prompting Oren to release a tired sigh.
