Sam continued reading. This battle would not be fought with just one Pokémon—each trainer could send out three Pokémon at the same time. This was the true test of a trainer's strength. Controlling one Pokémon in battle and controlling three Pokémon simultaneously were completely different challenges.
This was where teamwork came into play.
Because of coordination between Pokémon, their combat effectiveness could be elevated to an entirely new level. Combining Pokémon with different Attributes could often produce unexpected results.
Karen's third Pokémon was Murkrow.
[Pokémon]Murkrow

[Ability] Insomnia
[Hidden Ability] Prankster
[Strength] Champion Beginner Level
These three Pokémon were most likely the ones Karen would use in battle. As the information stated, most of Karen's Pokémon specialized in Dark-type combat.
Blaine glanced at Sam and said, "This Karen is very difficult to deal with. Her Pokémon are extremely aggressive, and they possess some special abilities that can produce unexpected effects during battle."
Sam nodded. As the final member of the Johto Elite Four, her strength was naturally not to be underestimated.
After saying goodbye to Blaine, Sam prepared to return home.
On the way, he decided to find somewhere to eat. Since Erika wasn't available to have dinner with him, he figured he might as well treat himself.
Sam walked into a restaurant.
By the time he had left Blaine's residence, it was already late at night. After finishing his meal, he left the restaurant feeling satisfied.
Walking alone through the streets, Sam headed home.
Suddenly, the sound of music and dancing caught his attention.
It was a large dance hall in Rainbow City, somewhat similar to the nightlife districts from his previous life.
Feeling that the night was still young, Sam decided to take a look inside.
He had experienced places like this many times in his previous life, but since arriving in this world, he had never visited one before.
Entering the dance hall, Sam ordered a drink and sat quietly in a corner.
The hall was crowded and noisy.
As he sipped his drink, he watched the dancers performing on stage.
One woman immediately caught his attention.
Unlike the other seductive dancers, she seemed pure and elegant, more like the girl next door.
Sam couldn't help but watch her.
Eventually, the performance ended, and the woman stepped off the stage.
His gaze followed her.
She walked to a quiet corner of the hall and sat down by herself. If he hadn't seen her perform earlier, no one would have guessed that she was one of the dancers.
Sam walked over.
"Hello. May I get to know you?"
The woman looked at him in surprise before hesitating briefly.
"Okay."
Sam smiled.
"My name is Sam. What's yours?"
"Miki."
The woman answered politely.
As they chatted, the two gradually became more familiar with each other.
Miki was a dancer from Ecruteak City. Since the Masters Tournament was being held this time, she had come to participate as well.
Sam was surprised.
This woman was actually a Trainer?
She certainly didn't look like one.
"So you're participating in the Masters too?" Sam asked.
A surprised expression appeared on Miki's face.
"You are too?"
Sam nodded.
At the same time, a thought crossed his mind.
Could she be one of the people who had already earned five medals?
He asked the question directly.
Miki smiled and nodded.
Sam was stunned.
He had unexpectedly met someone who might become his Rival during the qualifiers.
"Your name is Sam, right?" Miki said. "I know you're a talented Trainer. If we meet in the qualifiers, you'll have to go easy on me."
She spoke playfully, and despite her mature appearance, she seemed rather cute.
Combined with her delicate features, it only made her appear even more charming.
Sam smiled.
"I should be the one asking you not to put too much pressure on me."
Miki smiled and nodded.
The two chatted happily for quite some time.
Sam had no idea why Miki had become a dancer, but he found her to be a very pleasant and cheerful person.
Later that night, he returned home.
Since Erika was busy managing both the Gym and family affairs and rarely stayed home, Sam was alone in his room.
He began thinking about how to deal with Karen.
At the same time, he wondered how he would defeat Miki if they ended up facing each other.
Even though they had become friends, Sam would never give up his Masters qualification so easily.
