Chapter 263 - Chapter 263: The Price of Greed

After a burst of white light, Gengar, having completed its Mega Evolution, appeared before everyone.

The surging energy in its body erased any trace of tension. It returned to its usual mischievous self, a wide grin spreading across its face.

"Gengar~!"

Hearing that familiar laugh, Sam couldn't help but smile.

Yeah… this was his Gengar.

"What an annoying opponent," Hunter J muttered, already considering retreat.

Ghost-type Pokémon were notoriously difficult to deal with, and after Mega Evolution, Gengar was no longer weaker than Salamence. Its unpredictable, elusive nature made it even more troublesome. Fighting it required constant vigilance.

Hunter J had no intention of wasting more time here. She glanced at Suicune in the distance and prepared to escape with it.

As for her subordinates? She didn't care. As long as she had money, she could always recruit more.

Everyone on the battlefield was focused on their own fights. No one noticed that a dark-skinned boy had quietly snuck nearby.

"Hahaha! Raboot, we're so lucky—it's Suicune! I'm going to catch it!" Goh shouted excitedly.

Some people truly didn't understand fear—and Goh was the perfect example.

Ignoring the life-and-death battle happening around him, he rushed toward Suicune and threw a Poké Ball.

A flash of red light—

Suicune, still trapped in the net, was pulled inside.

That single action enraged everyone present.

"How dare you?!" Hunter J roared, killing intent surging.

She had always been the one stealing from others. Now someone dared to steal from her?

Sam's expression darkened as well.

He had never seen someone this shameless. After everything he had done to rescue Suicune, this guy tried to snatch the result right in front of everyone.

Typical Goh.

Ash, Misty, and Brock all looked furious. In their eyes, Sam was the one most qualified to catch Suicune. Watching someone steal that moment right in front of them—it was infuriating.

In a single move, Goh had made himself the enemy of everyone present.

But he didn't care.

Holding the shaking Poké Ball, he laughed loudly.

"Hahaha! Suicune is mine now!"

Sam, however, had already calmed down. He simply looked at Goh with pity.

From his perspective, this guy was courting death.

The Poké Ball in Goh's hand continued to shake violently.

He hadn't caught Suicune yet.

And facing an enraged Suicune… was a terrible idea.

Just as Sam expected—

Before Goh could celebrate, the Poké Ball suddenly burst open.

Suicune reappeared, radiating killing intent.

In its eyes, Goh was no different from the poachers—just another enemy.

Already pushed into a violent state, it showed no mercy.

Only now did Goh realize something was wrong.

He raised his hands, trying to beg for mercy—

But it was too late.

A freezing blast erupted from Suicune's mouth, instantly encasing him in ice.

His body became a frozen statue.

Beside him, Raboot trembled in fear. As a rookie Pokémon, it had never witnessed anything like this. It stood frozen, not knowing what to do.

After dealing with Goh, Suicune turned toward Sam and the others, a trace of gratitude in its eyes—

Then it fled deeper into the forest without hesitation.

"Damn it!"

Hunter J's fury exploded. She pointed at the frozen figure.

"Salamence, destroy it!"

Sensing her anger, Salamence unleashed a blast of energy without hesitation.

The ice shattered instantly.

Blood sprayed out—

And under the overwhelming force, Goh was reduced to nothing, his body turning to ash—becoming nourishment for the forest.

He had it coming.

Sam had the ability to save him.

But he chose not to.

Saving Goh would bring him nothing but trouble. If it had been Ash, Misty, Brock, or even a stranger, Sam would have acted without hesitation.

But Goh?

No.

For someone like him, this was a fitting end.

After venting her anger, Hunter J calmed slightly. She recalled Salamence and left without another word.

Suicune was gone.

There was no reason to stay.

Today… she had suffered a heavy loss.
