Chapter 48: The Dark Pact
Arthur, the patriarch of the Ferguson family, stood trembling in that narrow corridor beneath the sands of Luxor. He had no idea that his archaeological curiosity would lead him to the discovery of a king intentionally struck from the annals of history. The inscriptions on the walls pulsed with a majestic mystery, telling the story of the king no one dared to name—the king who sought "Invisibility and Immortality."
As Arthur wiped the dust from the mural, he read that the sorcerers had warned the king that summoning the "Forces of Shadows" would require a sacrifice transcending the boundaries of time. The king agreed, and on that promised night, under the light of the full moon, the unthinkable happened.
The continuation of the story as read by Arthur:
"As the ceremonies reached their peak, the earth split open—not to reveal gold or treasures, but a gateway of nothingness. From it emerged not a horned demon, but an 'entity' formed of dense black clouds. The sorcerers began to scream as they saw the king dissolve within that shadow; the king did not die, but his soul was replaced by an eternal being.
The inscriptions say that the 'transformed' king no longer ruled humans but became a guardian of the gate, waiting for someone to break his shackles in another time. At the end of the mural, Arthur found a drawing of a very familiar necklace... the very same necklace he now carried in his pocket, found in the adjacent tomb."
Arthur realized at that moment that the power he found was not just a historical artifact, but a 'key' to this entity. The writing at the end of the inscription was chilling: "He who awakens the Shadow, possesses it... and he who possesses it, the Shadow shall serve him until the time comes to reclaim the price."
Arthur closed his notebook with a shaking hand. He thought he was bringing wealth to his family, but he now realized he had brought them a "servant" that would haunt their descendants. This entity, which his grandson Edward would later know as "Toula," had been waiting for this moment for thousands of years
