Chapter 58 - Chapter 59: Vs Team System Crash

And so the final match was set. The battle between the new and the old, the newcomers and the champions.

The announcer's voice was a roar of pure excitement. "This is it, the final battle of the Gamer Cup! We have the unstoppable newcomers, Team No-Clip, taking on the undefeated champions, Team System Crash!"

The crowd went wild, their anticipation for the battle reaching a fever pitch. This was the match they had been waiting for, the clash of titans that would determine the ultimate victor.

Pedro and Antonio walked onto the stage, their confident smirks replaced by looks of grim determination. They had seen Eliana and Gabriel's previous battles, and they knew they were in for a fight.

"You two are good," Pedro said, his eyes locked on Eliana. "But you're not good enough to beat us."

"We'll see about that," Eliana said, her voice cold and even.

"Let's make this a good fight," Antonio said, cracking his knuckles. "Just us and our Pokémon."

"I wouldn't have it any other way!" Gabriel replied, his own determination mirroring theirs.

"The final battle of the Gamer Cup will now begin! Each trainer can now send out their chosen Pokémon!"

"It's showtime! Rhydon, let's go!" Pedro roared, his Poké Ball soaring through the air.

"You know it! Pinsir, show them your power!" Antonio yelled, releasing his own Pokémon.

The two massive Pokémon materialized on the field, their sheer presence a palpable force. Rhydon, a towering beast of rock and ground, let out a deafening roar. Pinsir, a formidable insectoid with menacing pincers, clicked them together, a sound like grinding steel.

"Riolu, I choose you!" Gabriel yelled, his Pokémon appearing in a flash of light. The small fighting-type dropped into a battle-ready stance, its aura flaring with a deep blue light.

"Kirlia, your turn." Eliana said, her voice a calm command.

Her psychic-type appeared, its small frame a stark contrast to its monstrous opponents. But there was no fear in its eyes, only a cold, calculating focus. It looked at Rhydon, a flicker of psychic energy pulsing from its core. Kirlia sent that the Rhydon's ability was lightening rod, the thought a whisper in Eliana's mind.

Eliana sent back,

Gabriel jolted slightly as he heard Eliana's voice in his mind. While they had included in their training he still wasn't completely used to it.

"System Crash gets the first move! Let the final battle begin!"

"Rhydon, use Horn Drill on the Riolu!" Pedro commanded, a savage grin on his face. He wanted to end the battle immediately.

"Pinsir use Guillotine on the Kirlia!" Antonio yelled, aiming to eliminate the psychic-type right away.

Both Pokémon lunged, their attacks lethal and precise. But Eliana and Gabriel were ready.

"Riolu, use Detect!" Gabriel yelled.

"Kirlia Teleport then Psycho Cut on the Pinsir," Eliana said, her voice a calm counterpoint to the chaos.

Riolu's movements were a blur of blue and black. It ducked, it weaved, it dodged, its body contorting in impossible ways to avoid the massive horn. Rhydon's Horn Drill attempted to land but kept missing, eventually slamming into the ground where Riolu had been standing a second before, the impact creating a small crater.

At the same time, Kirlia vanished, reappearing behind the charging Pinsir. The psychic-type raised a hand, a shimmering, violet-pink blade of pure psychic energy erupting from its palm. It sliced through the air, a razor-sharp arc of power that caught Pinsir completely by surprise. The attack sent the bug-type stumbling forward, its momentum sending it crashing into a wall.

The crowd gasped, a collective intake of breath. They had never seen a Kirlia move with such speed and precision, let alone use an attack like that.

"What was that?" Pedro yelled, his face a mask of disbelief. "Kirlia can't learn Psycho Cut!"

"They can if they're training to become a Gallade," Eliana said, a small, satisfied smirk on her lips. "Now, Kirlia, use Double Team."

Kirlia became a blur of motion, a series of afterimages spreading out across the battlefield. Pinsir, still dazed from the Psycho Cut, looked around, its pincers clicking in confusion.

"Riolu, use Swords Dance!" Gabriel commanded, taking advantage of the opening.

Riolu's body glowed with a white light as it spun around, its aura flaring with power. Its attack power had been significantly increased.

"Enough of these games, Pinsir jump off the ground!" Antonio roared, his patience wearing thin.

"Rhydon, use Earthquake!" Pedro commanded.

The ground began to shake violently, a powerful tremor that sent shockwaves across the entire battlefield. It was a move that would hit everything on the field, a devastating area-of-effect attack.

"Riolu, Quick Attack to get on Rhydon's back!" Gabriel yelled, thinking fast. "Hold on tight!"

Riolu shot forward, a blue streak of energy. It leaped onto the shaking ground, its movements a perfect display of agility and balance. It landed squarely on Rhydon's back, its small claws digging into the rock-type's tough hide.

"You too Kirlia, Teleport onto the Rhydon,> Eliana calmly said.

Kirlia vanished, reappearing next to Riolu on the back of the bewildered Rhydon. The earthquake raged around them, but they were safe, riding out the storm on the back of the beast.

"What? Get them off of you!" Pedro yelled, his face turning red with fury. Rhydon still managing to continue using Earthquake began shaking itself to no avail as its two riders held on tightly.

"Pinsir, use X-Scissor on them!" Antonio commanded.

Pinsir lunged, its pincers glowing with a dark energy.

Eliana telepathically informed Gabriel of her plan so that their opponents couldn't plan against it, and also so that Gabriel wouldn't try anything reckless. Riolu tensed, preparing to leap away, but Gabriel held up a hand, a silent signal to wait.

Eliana thought to her waiting Pokémon.

Just as Pinsir's pincers were about to close in on them, Kirlia and Riolu's forms shimmered and vanished. Pinsir crashed into its teammate, causing both Pokémon to cry out in pain.

Kirlia had teleported them both to safety, reappearing on the other side of the battlefield, just as the earthquake finally subsided. The crowd was on their feet, their cheers a deafening roar. They knew it was the battle would be coming to an end soon. Half were hoping their champions would pull through while the other half wanted the newbies to win.

"We have to end this now," Pedro said, his voice a low growl. "Rhydon, use Horn Drill on the Riolu!" he commanded.

"Pinsir, use Guillotine on the Kirlia!" Antonio added, their desperation turning to a reckless gamble.

They were once again trying the one-hit knockout moves, even though they had been countered already. Eliana was pleased to find that she had been correct about their reliance on the moves.

"Riolu use Detect!" Gabriel yelled.

"Kirlia use Protect!" Eliana commanded.

Riolu's body tensed, its senses on high alert. It moved with a fluid grace, its body contorting to avoid the deadly horn. The Horn Drill missed by a hair's breadth, the wind from the attack rustling Riolu's fur.

At the same time, a shimmering green shield appeared in front of Kirlia, blocking the Pinsir's Guillotine. The bug-type's pincers crashed against the shield, the impact sending it stumbling back.

"Now Riolu use Brick Break on Pinsir!" Gabriel yelled, seizing the opportunity.

"Kirlia, Psycho Cut on the Rhydon!" Eliana added.

Riolu's paw glowed with a bright energy as it leaped forward, striking the Pinsir's exposed midsection. The Swords Danced boosted attack was a critical hit, the energy tearing through the bug-type's defenses.

Kirlia's Psycho Cut was just as deadly, the blade of psychic energy slicing through the Rhydon's neck. The drill Pokémon cried out in pain, its body collapsing to the ground, its eyes swirling with defeat.

"Rhydon is unable to battle!" the referee announced, raising a flag.

Pedro's face was full of disbelief as he looked at his partner. Antonio's face was a mask of anger, his Pinsir was now the last Pokémon standing on their side.

"Don't think this is over! Pinsir, use Superpower on the Riolu!" Antonio yelled, his desperation fueling his rage.

"Riolu, use Endure!" Gabriel commanded.

Riolu's body glowed with a faint aura as it braced for the impact. The Superpower connected, sending the small fighting-type flying across the battlefield. But it didn't faint. It struggled to its feet, its body trembling with pain, but its eyes burned with determination. It had been training Endure since the first time it was used against Kirlia. Riolu now could fire off one more attack before being unable to battle.

"Finish it with Force Palm!" Gabriel yelled.

Riolu shot forward, its paw glowing with a bright energy. It slammed into the Pinsir, the attack sending the bug-type flying. It crashed to the ground, its eyes swirling with defeat.

"Pinsir is unable to battle!" the referee announced, raising a flag. "The victory goes to Team No-Clip!"

The crowd erupted into a deafening roar, their cheers a wave of pure, unadulterated joy. They had witnessed an upset, a victory for the underdogs. Team No-Clip had done the impossible. They had defeated the undefeated champions.
