Chapter 51. Winter is Here
My heart skipped a beat.
Even though he had whispered it so quietly, meant only for me, Tigris's ears perked up instantly from across the table, his supreme tiger hearing easily catching the heavy words.
Died?' A heavy, sudden chill settled in my stomach, colder than the winter air outside. 'The previous person from Earth failed to return home? Does that mean... I'm going to be stuck here forever, too?'
Before I could spiral into my own dark thoughts, the rest of the cave erupted into a chaotic mix of reactions.
"Yuck! It stings!" Celine complained, her face scrunching up as she spit a tiny drop back out onto the dirt. "It burns my mouth!"
"Hey! If you don't like it, give it to me!" Luna barked, immediately snatching the coconut bowl out of her sister's hands and greedily gulping down the rest. Her eyes lit up with fierce satisfaction.
"Don't waste it, Celine, this is the precious Goddess's drink!"
