They ended up reaching Mashlow on the sixth day after starting their return travel. They would have returned sooner, but ended up traveling slower due to the rescued captives. The people were weak and traumatized.
At the city guard post, they delivered the captives to authorities who took statements and began arranging for their return to their families. The captain of the guard, impressed by the bandit camp's elimination, immediately offered the bounty payment of 50 silver per confirmed bandit killed, plus a bonus for the rescues.
The total came to five gold for the team to divide amongst themselves.
"Let's split it six ways," Cole said, but quickly, Yamamoto shook his head.
"I don't need it. Distribute my share among the rest of you."
The others protested, but Yamamoto was firm, and after a moment, they had to agree.
They returned to the guild exhausted. The quest that should have been simple had taken a very interesting turn.
