Chapter 16 - The True Foundational Laws.

The reverse side of the parchment did not contain simple instructions; it laid bare a brutal, systematic philosophy of self-evolution. Wang Fang leaned closer, his eyes scanning the glowing ink as he absorbed the three core tenets of the scripture.

1. The Silent Vigil (Isolating the Mortal Framework)

Before a single muscle can be torn, the cultivator must find an absolute, shadow-drenched sanctuary. They must assume a cross-legged meditative posture, locking their torso into perfect alignment, and maintain absolute physical stillness. The mind must shed all external awareness—ignoring the mocking whispers of the clan, the rustle of the leaves, and even the passage of time itself.

In this state of profound stillness, the cultivator must listen intently to their own heartbeat. They must tune out the noise of the world until the heavy, rhythmic thudding inside their chest echoes through their consciousness like a war drum. Only when the heart becomes the center of their universe can they begin to feel the ambient, glowing warmth expanding within their torso.

2. The Great Sensory Focus (Anatomical Hyper-Awareness)

The true secret of the forbidden scripture demands absolute, unwavering mental focus during active training. When the cultivator plunges their body into physical torment—whether sprinting up vertical mountain tracks or holding an agonizing horse-stance—their awareness must remain anchored deep inside their flesh. They must observe every single biological mechanism in real-time.

The practitioner must visually map their own anatomy, tracking the desperate contractions of the muscle fibers, the boiling heat traveling through the blood vessels, and the extreme pressure expanding the lining of the veins. To anchor this focus, the cultivator must maintain a strict, regulated breathing form: exactly five deliberate, calculated breaths must be taken whenever a new movement or physical action is initiated. By focusing entirely on this internal warmth and breath, the mind acts as a lens, pinning the volatile internal vitality directly onto the zones of highest physical friction.

3. The Break and Reforge Loop (The Agonizing Metamorphosis)

Unlike traditional Qi cultivation, which gently clears the spiritual channels, this technique demands physical destruction. The cultivator must push their muscles, veins, and skeletal matrix past the point of fatigue, driving them to absolute failure until they physically break apart under the strain.

This process is a terrifying loop of continuous trauma and instant regeneration:

The Shattering: Under progressive overload, the muscle tissues rip, the veins burn out from extreme blood pressure, and microscopic cracks splinter the outer layer of the bones, causing raw, crimson blood to splash internally through the anatomy.

The Reforging: The moment the flesh breaks,The hyper-focused mind instinctively directs the body's regenerative vitality toward the damaged tissues, accelerating the natural repair process.". It acts like a molten, golden-obsidian solder, fusing the torn fibers back together within a fraction of an hour. Every single time the blood splashes and the tissues heal, the underlying structure recovers with reinforced density and elasticity, turning a fragile child's body into an unshakeable, diamond-hard vault.

"Ah... so that's the secret," Wang Fang whispered into the silent night, a profound wave of realization washing over him. "No wonder my body felt like it was tearing itself apart after that run. I was forcing the break, but I didn't have the internal focus or the breathing pattern to command the reforge. I will have to start over from the very beginning."

A dangerous, exciting spark ignited in his chest. He kicked the book back under the bed, walked over to his heavy wooden door, and cracked it open slightly. He peered to the left, then to the right. The courtyard was completely empty; the servants had long since retired for the evening. He locked the door back up, comforted by the knowledge that no one would disturb him.

Suddenly, a daunting thought crossed his mind. What if I can't achieve this framework quickly? What will I do then?

He paced around his chamber, striking his right hand against his left palm to gauge his current state. According to his calculations, a standard cycle of this focus might require months of dedicated meditation. If I take the standard path, I'll need at least two months of pure isolation, but the clan tournament is just over two months away. His face paled slightly as the reality sank in. I have no choice. I will have to focus entirely, pushing through day and night without sleep.

Resolving himself, he reached under his bed and pulled out a small wooden plaque. Carved into its surface were the words: "Seclusion. Do Not Disturb."

"Good. This should keep them away," Wang Fang murmured. He hung the warning sign outside his door, stepped back into his room, and sealed it tight.

Returning to his bed, he assumed the cross-legged lotus position and took a long, deep breath. One, two, three, four, five... he counted silently, exhaling the stale air of the room. One, two, three, four, five... he repeated, locking himself into the rhythmic breathing pattern required by the manual.

At first, his adult mind fought aggressively against the unnatural stillness. Fractured thoughts and deep, existential questions bubbled to the surface. Who was I in my past life? What did I used to do? But the void offered no answers. The distractions didn't stop there; the mocking, arrogant faces of the clan elders drifted through his mind, threatening to shatter his concentration.

But he refused to yield. He held his posture rigidly as the sun rose, climbed to its peak, and began to descend.

During the day, Xiao Lan passed by Wang Fang's chamber carrying fresh linens. Seeing the wooden warning poster on the door, she paused and let out a sigh of relief. "Ah, the Young Master is finally taking his rest seriously," she murmured to herself, a happy smile gracing her lips. "I'm glad he isn't being stubborn this time." With that, she quietly walked away, ensuring the servants stayed clear.

The sun sank once more, replaced by the cold, silver light of the triple moons. On the second day of his isolation, his father, the Clan Leader, walked by the pavilion. He noticed the seclusion sign, stood outside the door in silence for a brief moment, and decided to leave his son undisturbed.

Days bled into one another as time flew by. One day, two days, five days... until ten continuous days had passed.

During those ten days, Wang Fang entered a state of deep meditative hibernation. His heartbeat slowed dramatically, his breathing became almost imperceptible, and the internal vitality generated by the Sovereign World-Root Scripture sustained his core, completely replacing his need for food and water. The profound physical exhaustion stripped away his stray thoughts, leaving his mind perfectly, beautifully calm.

By the dawn of the tenth day, a sudden, violent shift occurred within his anatomy. Wang Fang could feel his heartbeat vibrating heavily through his entire skeleton. He had officially mastered the internal sensory focus, successfully breaking through to Stage 1, Level 3 of the Ironroot Flesh. Through this heightened state, he could accurately map and control how every single muscle group aligned, contracted, and moved.

His eyes snapped open. Trembling slightly from the prolonged stasis, he reached for the ceramic cup of water that had been sitting beside his bed for ten days. He drank it violently, leaving not a single drop inside the vessel.

"Whew... how many days has it been?" he muttered, his voice raspy and dry. Because of the absolute stillness of his meditation, he had completely lost track of time, forgetting the flow of daily life entirely.

He stood up, his joints popping like firecrackers, and slid open his wooden door to let the cool morning breeze wash over his skin. Wow... why does the air feel so incredibly crisp today? he thought. The mastery of his mental focus had lifted his consciousness into an entirely new realm of awareness. He looked down at his hands. I'm certain I've achieved the foundational step of Stage 1. Though he didn't have a standard Qi cultivation base to measure it against, the absolute clarity of his mind and the lack of any mental distraction made him certain of his progress.

Meanwhile.

His peace was short-lived. The sound of footsteps echoed down the stone pathway, and Wang Fang slowly lifted his head. His calm, steady gaze settled upon three youths walking confidently toward his private courtyard.

A collective, mocking grin spread across their faces. Leading the group was Bai Lu, a youth with sharp, predatory eyebrows, brown hair, and piercing black eyes. Flanking him were his two regular companions: He Son, who sported vibrant purple hair and light blue eyes, and Han Lu, distinguished by his golden hair and light silver eyes.

"Oh? Our little Young Master finally decided to crawl out of his hole," Bai Lu said, folding his arms arrogantly across his chest. "I was beginning to think you had hidden yourself away forever."

The two youths behind him burst into cruel laughter.

"Maybe he was just too ashamed to show his face around the estate," He Son sneered.

Bai Lu leaned slightly toward the other two, whispering loudly enough for Wang Fang to hear, "I heard a rumor that he almost killed himself on the mountain track just trying to run."

"Hahaha! A cripple trying to cultivate the martial path? That's the funniest joke I've heard all month!" Han Lu mocked, the two of them muttering insults to one another.

With practiced coordination, the three of them moved to surround Wang Fang from different directions, completely blocking the exit to his courtyard. Bai Lu slowly looked Wang Fang up and down, clicking his tongue in exaggerated disappointment.

"What a pathetic sight," Bai Lu sneered. "So this... is the future Leader of our Crimson Clan?"

His companions laughed even louder, tossing insults like stones.

"A piece of trash."

"Worthless."

"A complete burden to the bloodline."

"Even the lowest servants in the clan whisper about you behind your back," He Son added, stepping forward. "You should be profoundly grateful the Clan Leader is your father. If you had been born into any other family, you would have been thrown out to starve long ago."

Throughout the entire tirade, Wang Fang remained completely silent. His expression didn't change in the slightest; his eyes were as still as a dark pool of water.

Frowning at the absolute lack of a reaction, Bai Lu dipped his hand into his silk robe and pulled out a tiny, white jade bottle. He uncorked it, removing a dull gray medicinal pill no larger than a fingernail. Holding it smugly between two fingers, he waved it directly in front of Wang Fang's face.

"Do you recognize this?" Bai Lu smirked proudly. "A Mortal-Grade Body Nourishing Pill. It isn't even worth mentioning to real, talented cultivators. But for someone like you..." He flicked the pill into the air, catching it deftly with a smirk. "...it's probably more precious than your entire future."

The three youths burst into uncontrollable laughter once more.

"Hahaha! A cripple without a single strand of Qi!"

"You'll never even reach the threshold of the Qi Gathering Realm!"

Suddenly, Bai Lu clenched his fist, hiding the pill tightly in his palm. He stepped closer, closing the distance until only a single pace separated them.

"Do you know what everyone in the clan is saying right now?" Bai Lu lowered his voice, his eyes dripping with contempt. "They're saying the position of Young Master rightfully belongs to Wang Zhi—the Fourth Elder's grandson, our true master. He possesses real talent. He possesses a vibrant Spirit Root. He has the absolute respect of the elders. And you... are nothing but an embarrassment wearing a title you don't deserve."

Bai Lu leaned in, poking a finger toward Wang Fang's chest. "You should surrender your position before the upcoming tournament. Save yourself the public humiliation. When Young Master Wang Zhi brutally defeats you, everyone will laugh anyway. So why struggle? Hand over the title now. It was never yours to begin with."

The courtyard fell into a heavy, oppressive silence. A gentle breeze swept through the area, causing the spiritual leaves of the nearby trees to rustle softly.

Wang Fang slowly lowered his eyes to Bai Lu's tightly clenched hand, and then... he smiled.

It wasn't a smile born of anger. It wasn't a bitter, defeated smirk. It was a perfectly calm, serene smile—one that made the three youths instinctively shift their weight in discomfort.

"Are you finished?" Wang Fang's quiet voice echoed through the courtyard.

The lingering remnants of their mocking laughter completely faded, replaced by an uneasy, tense stillness. Wang Fang took a slow, deliberate step forward until he stood directly in front of Bai Lu. Despite being shorter by nearly a head, the unwavering, ancient pressure in his gaze caused Bai Lu's posture to stiffen automatically.

"You said I should surrender..." Wang Fang repeated, his smile remaining faint but absolute. "Huh. If I were to surrender now, then I truly would be a loser."

His expression remained entirely composed as his eyes locked onto Bai Lu's without a single trace of wavering. "Tell me... if I really am all of those things you just said—trash, a cripple, unworthy of my title... then why did the three of you feel the need to come here together?"

Bai Lu's expression froze. "You... cough—" He opened his mouth to bark a retort, but Wang Fang cut him off with sharp authority.

"I'm not finished," Wang Fang said coldly. He continued before anyone else could speak. "If I were truly as worthless as you claim, you wouldn't have wasted a single second of your day coming here to mock me. You would have ignored me completely. But instead, you traveled all the way to my private courtyard just to ensure I heard your insults."

A faint, mocking chuckle escaped Wang Fang's lips. "It seems the three of you are far more concerned about my future than I am."

The arrogant smiles on the three youths' faces vanished entirely. He Son clenched his fists tightly, stepping forward. "What absolute nonsense are you spouting?!"

Instead of acknowledging him, Wang Fang ignored He Son entirely, keeping his focus pinned on their leader. He took one final step forward, stopping less than an arm's length from Bai Lu.

"You called me a loser. Very well. I'll accept that title—for now. But remember one thing: the clan tournament is exactly two months and eleven days away. If I lose to Wang Zhi, I will leave this clan on my own two feet, exactly as I promised the elders. I will not make excuses. I will not beg for mercy. I will simply accept my defeat."

His calm voice suddenly took on a razor-sharp, lethal edge. "But if I win... every single word you've spoken today will become nothing more than the pathetic barking of frightened dogs."

The atmosphere in the courtyard instantly turned suffocatingly heavy. Bai Lu's face darkened with rage. "You honestly think you can defeat Young Master Wang Zhi?" he sneered, trying to regain his footing. "He has already officially stepped into the Qi Gathering Realm!"

A sudden, sharp jolt of shock hit Wang Fang's mind. Shit... that bastard has already reached the Qi Gathering Realm? Despite the internal alarm, his physical face remained an unreadable mask of absolute calm.

"And you don't even possess a single strand of Qi!" Bai Lu barked triumphantly.

Wang Fang's calm smile returned, radiating an terrifying level of confidence. "I know," he said aloud, his voice steady. "That's exactly why defeating him will be far more satisfying."

The sheer conviction in his voice deeply unsettled the three youths. It wasn't the blind arrogance of a child, nor was it the desperate madness of a fool. It was absolute, unshakeable certainty.

For the first time since arriving at the pavilion, Bai Lu and his companions felt an inexplicable, freezing chill crawl straight up their spines. They couldn't understand the source of their own fear, but standing before this ten-year-old boy felt like standing before an ancient entity who had already lived an entire lifetime
