Kieran stood in front of the canvas, brush in hand, sleeves rolled up just enough that faint paint stains marked his wrists. The air smelled like oil paint.
Footsteps echoed outside the door, he could tell there were two sets. Dragging slightly like it belonged to someone who never fully committed to walking in a straight line.
"Wow," Marcus's voice came first. "He's alive."
"I told you," Adrian replied immediately. "I told you he wasn't dead. You owe me money."
"I said 'probably alive,' that doesn't count as a bet."
"It absolutely counts." Adrian stepped in first, hands in his pockets, scanning the room like he owned half of it already. Marcus followed right behind him, already looking irritated for no reason.
"…Oh," Adrian stopped. "No way." Adrian rushed over to one of the canvases.
"If you break anything in here, he's going to replace them with your teeth." Marcus said, glancing at the overly excited Adrian.
