Scarlett Pov
"Xavier, I'm scared," I whispered, staring out the window while hugging my legs.
He didn't say anything, and I wasn't shocked, just a bit hurt. He never really cares, so it's not a new thing.
I hugged myself tightly and kept staring through the window, precisely at the twinkling stars— they emwere my only comfort at that moment.
My thoughts were too occupied that I didn't know what was happening, neither did I feel it. In the next second, a strong arm around my waist pulled me away.
My heart leaped out of my chest as my head touched a hard, firm surface. His breathing was calm, temperature warm, and his spicy scent already filling my nostrils.
How can he still smell so nice after such an intense battle?
Speaking of Xavier, did he just draw me closer to him, or am I hallucinating?
I pinched myself, trying to see if it was really real.
"Ouch," I groaned softly, rubbing the spot.
It was real. I am actually in Xavier's arms, and he willingly placed me there.
