Alar looked up to see a fierce-looking male beastman with black hair and clad in black robes. "Xirin? What are you doing here?"
He immediately signaled the guard units for backup, then spread his arms wide to shield Penny behind him. "I won't let you take her."
Xirin was likely targeting Penny to use her as leverage against both him and Tair. After skulking in the shadows for so long, the fact that Xirin now dared to show his face so openly meant his strength had grown significantly. Alar wasn't entirely sure he could win this fight. His best move was to stall for time until the guards arrived.
"That's not up to you," Xirin sneered. Turning to his subordinates, he barked, "Seize the female!"
If Tair were here, Xirin might have hesitated, but Tair could barely look after himself right now. A mere Alar stood no chance of protecting her.
